3rd brake light mounted in hard top

Looking for any input on those who have mounted a 3rd brake light into your hard top. What 3rd brake light did you use? How did you mount it? Did you run the wires on the interior or did you fish it between the panels?

Any inisght and advice/example/pictures you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Here is the end result

This is the light I got it at the local truck stop. Before I bedlined the chrom.
3rd Brake light

Process is involved but easy.

The wiring goes though the mesh wire tube that goes on the tailgate. I pulled the wiring from the brake like back through the mesh tube all the way back to the inside of the rear passenger corner.

Drilled a small hole big enough for the new light wring. BE CAREFUL TO NOT HIT THE WIPER WIRING!!! The light has a, IIRC, 1/2" mounting piece that I dremeled off to make the back flat.

Cut off the wiring connector and extended the wires to be fished. I was able to get to the where the wiper power comes out. I tried to fish it all the way down to the hole at the base of the top, but I couldn not get to to work. So I ran the wiring into the cabin are and used the mesh tubing from the stock wiring to try to match the other side. I still have have on a list to change the mounts out.

I used this from WallyWorld to make a quick disconnect incase I ever take off the hardtop.

I had previously had slipped on some heat shrink to cover the ref & White wiring

I then made a gasket of the 3M trim adhesive tape for the back of the LED light to seal out anything from getting into the walls of the hardtop, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR WIRING BEFORE MOUNTING THE LIGHT. You will probably destroy the light incase you try take light off. The 3M tape is a mondter!

Found another thread from a couple of years ago in the Tech forum that I must have missed when I initially searched. Pretty good stuff
