Front bumper help with inspiration...

Hi everyone,

I need some inspiration to help me chose a winch capable front bumper, I am just going round and round in circles and I'm going mad! This is the hardest choice so far for me.

I started wanting a stubby and flat fenders, but its a grey area where I am and because we also do lots of driving for family holidays etc I thought a full width would be safer.

However everyone around me has the AEV full width, yes its nice, but everyone has it! I was looking for something different and found the Poison Spyder and Crawler Conceptz full width...

But then I was thinking maybe I should go mid-width.... ARGH I just don't know!

Please show me you mid-width or full width bumpers with stock flares.

AEV is working on releasing a MID for the JL, should bolt up with the JK without any issues from what I've read. Probably the sharpest bumper I've seen in a long time.

I just installed a Poison Spyder stubby bumper with the optional skid plate underneath it on my JK. I chose stubby because I like the look as it goes only to the end of the grill (mid width to me looks unfinished IMO). Also a big benefit on the stubby is weight savings as well as not having to clean mud flung up on the bumper ends from the front tires cause there is no bumper there now.

I went with the recessed winch style with the bully bar. I was going to go with the top mount style but I've read others say it is better to have the winch low on center of gravity and also the top mount can lead to higher temps due to the winch blocking the grill.

Only down side to the one I bought is the integrated fog light holes are square so I have to get aftermarket fogs for them. I think Rigid makes some square style.

Full width. Sadly I didn't have a pic of it when I still had the factory fenders, but the two brush guards on the sides covered the front of the factory fenders.

A lot of protection for the front.

RedRock 4x4 front bumper from Extreme Terrain.

I had this one on my previous TJ as well and it proved itself with a couple of deer hits and and someone cutting me off at a traffic light. Zero damage to my Jeep.

Can't beat that for $300!

I have a JCR stubby. The workmanship is great..made in USA. They have a full line from stubby to full width and a few different styles.

I agree so many great options, just remember that your front end will most likely sag a bit with a big heavy bumper and a winch.

Full width, best protection. It's the Red Rock 4x4 off of Extreme Terrain. It's held up extremely well over the past 4 years, and for $300 I can't complain.
