JK Videography - Tools, Techniques, etc!

I think it's long overdue that we have thread dedicated to video. With all the tools out there for capturing outrageous shots that just a few years ago were not even possible, I would love to see how the WF is using them!

Let's run through a list of our gear!
If we post a video, give all the details about how it was shot, edited, etc.

In the next few days Ill post some awesome trade show (Think SEMA) videos of vehicles you wont see anywhere else, including the Bullitt Mustang... and some of the Rarest and coolest jeeps out there...

Then Ill post some videos on some great new Jeep product both at the show and on my own JK

My goal with this thread is to share knowledge to get better at what I do, and possibly help others too!

Here's my gear:

Nikon D3500 with an assortment of lenses
WaspCAM 4K Waterproof Action Camera
iPhone 7+ Running Filmic PRO app for pro video
DJI Osmo Mobile handheld smartphone stabilizer
DJI Spark Fly More Combo

My NLE (Non-linear Edit System) Adobe Premiere Pro

The first tip I have for anyone using a smartphone to capture video, is:
  • get a stabilizer
  • Purchase Filmic Pro

If you're looking to make a video that does not look like it was shot on a phone, make a $110 investment and get a basic stabilizer and Filmic Pro.

Watch a few YouTube Videos on how to use the app, which now has a great auto-focus, auto-exposure setting in addition to all the other settings.

I do the videos for RubiTrux. Nothing crazy fancy but we are using what we have to the best of our abilities.

Gear List:
Canon t5i
-24mm 1.8 lens
-50mm 1.8 lens
-18-70 2.8 Lens

Canon Vixia HFG30

DJI Phantom 4

Gopro Hero 5 Black

Stabilizer, Jib, shoulder rig, tripod, some lighting.
All Editing is done in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects

Looking to get a DJI osmo or something else to film in 4k soon. Going to be extremely fun filming in Moab this year at EJS.
