My new KC Apollo pro's.

Finally have some decent lights. These are the six inch driving lights from KC.

Nice. Love mine. For the money they are great. Make my headlights look so weak.

I got the Mopar bull bar with 3 light mount tabs, still haven't decided which lights I want to go with, or if I'm doing 2 or 3, KC's seem to be popular, don't want to go the LED route, I like the classic round look.

I have the same bar. In my opinion it doesn't look the best with only two lights as they are a bit far apart and the blank tab is pretty obvious. I also blended the beam patterns by buying a set of driving lights with a spot in the middle, and having three tabs let's you do that. These are KC slimlites, but daylighters would look similar. I am not a huge fan of cubes and square LEDs, and I love the old school daylighter covers, so it was an easy decision to go with KC - not to mention top notch quality.

That's the perfect look IMHO, I'm also a fan of the KC smiley covers. I had a set of the 6" Daylighters on my old jeep (an 06 LJ), damn things aren't cheap. I'm thinking about going 5" but that might be too small.

Thanks! I'm pretty pumped with how it turned out. Exactly what I wanted. They are 6" slimlites so they look just like daylighters from the front just with the low profile back. Also the same as Apollos except those have plastic housing. Really you can't go wrong with any of the 6" KC halogens. You're right they arent cheep, but compared to LED round lights they aren't *that* bad. 🙂

Question for you. As you can't remove the grill without removing the bar first, and you need to unplug the lights to remove the bar, how did you wire yours? I'm thinking some waterproof auto connectors going under the grill?

I can take some pictures but as far as the connections to the lights are concerned, I didn't use any special connectors -- everything is in the kit. You do need the "add-on harness" to wire the third light (assuming you buy a pair and then an individual light on it's own), but it connects up the same as the other two.

As far as install and routing, I installed the bar, installed the lights on the bar, and then popped the grill out to do the wiring. I don't remember whether taking the grill completely off is impossible without removing the lights and bar because I didn't try -- bringing it forward a few inches was enough to get the room i needed. As far as how the wires run to the lights, pictures would be easier than explaining (and it's dark out) but suffice it to say they come out slots in the grill to each light.

Edit: I just read your question again and if your asking about routing with the future removal of the grill in mind, the included connectors between the lights and wiring harness are reachable in the grill so I don't think that's an issue if the lights have to come off to get the grill out.

Ok. Not sure how I'm gonna do mine. I installed a wire mesh in the grill so I'll have to come up with some kind of disconnect somewhere so that I can unplug to remove the bar and lights if need be. I'll have to look and see what kind of access I have from underneath, shouldn't be too difficult.

I think they probably will go under the grill it will just be a little tight between the grill and the bumper shroud if you are running that. I don't think the disconnect is an issue. There is already one built in in that the connections between the lights and harness are fairly close to the lights. If youre running it down and under the grill, that connector will be outside of the grill. Check out the pics thread I made also.

So I finally bought a set of lights, went with the KC HiLiTES 155 Apollo 6", but I can't find a set of the vinyl smiley covers anywhere. I found the hard plastic ones but I don't know if they'll fit.

Mine are the hard plastic ones (part #5202), and I got them directly from KC. Probably paid too much by a few bucks that way, but oh well. I'm pretty sure that the Apollos and the Slim Lites have very similar housing designs (just plastic vs metal) so I don't know why they wouldn't fit, but they don't say Apollo on the box (Daylighter, Slim Lite, and Pro-Sport), so I can't say for sure.

Here's a shot of how they clip on.

That's what I found, but my lights aren't listed as compatible, might see if I can email KC to see if they might fit.

Finally got around to installing my lights, got them mounted then couldn't find the spare relay I thought I had so wiring them up will have to wait till the next day off. They'll be wired to switch on and off with the high beams along with a switch to keep them off.

I also have the Apollo Pro's on my JKU. I really like them. I had some of the Slimlights, but they kept rusting and I got tired of replacing them.

Interesting. I'll have to keep an eye on that. One thing I do know, they make me smile every time I walk out to my jeep. It's the little things sometimes. 🙂
