My new ride

OK I have to admit I was not in the market for a Jeep at this time. My daughters wanted me to be but I was not even looking and this fell into my lap. One of my coworkers offered me a deal I could not turn down. He had what he originally told me was a 2010 Wrangler Sport with 140K on it and he blew the transmission on his way home one night. It was sitting at the dealer and he was ready to get rid of it. I sat on that for the day thinking, damn if I can get it for a decent price maybe I will pick it up and just put a reman trans in it. I have been a gearhead all my life. I was an ASE cert. mechanic for almost 10 years before moving onto machining. So I tell him I might be interested in buying it if he wants to get rid of it. I talk to the warden when I get home and she is like we don't need a jeep (we already have 3 vehicles). I tell her it will be a good investment and I will see if he will take 5K? I can fix it and flip it and make some $. She agrees :thumb:. Go to work the next day and don't say anything to him as I don't want to sound cheap with my offer. He comes to me and askes if I talked to the warden? I tell him yes and she said its fine but I'm trying to come up with a good number and not insult him. He said well what were you thinking and I said about 5K. He said I could not sell it to you for that as its not worth that :jawdrop:. He said I was thinking more along the lines of $1200-$1500 :jawdrop:. I said OK how about 2K? He said sold! So I thought it was a 2010 until today at a steal. Nope it is a 2012 :jawdrop:. Yeah, someone upstairs loves me I guess. Here she is. Has a few other issues but nothing I cant fix with a little time and elbow grease. Pretty stoked to say the least! Good to be back in a Jeep.

:welcome: to the forum!

Congratulations on the Jeep and the sweet deal.

Yes, that’s a 2012 alright; that color is called ‘Dozer. I owned a Dozer 2012 JKUR stick-shift. Loved it. I used to get total strangers come over to compliment me on the color.

Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks guys. I already told the girls they are going to be helping me fix everything. I have a sticking right front caliper that I would like to fix before doing the transmission. I bought a rebuilt caliper and its better but still not right. I will be looking into that today. After I put the caliper on I took it for a ride and it was shifting fine so I will have to investigate more before pulling the transmission. I will also be ordering running boards today as it really needs them. She kinda looks naked without them.
