Recessed Winch bumper top opening measurement question

Hello to you all. I am working on building my own bumper with a recessed winch. I'm having difficulties with how wide to make the top opening. I've looked at quite a few winch specs but haven't decided on a solid number. I would love some help. If a few of you might like to put a tape measure on your after market bumper with a recessed winch, that would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance.

The depth of bumper and model of the winch controls the top opening, my AEV winch ready was designed for Warn 10S, I had older warn it would not fit so not saying other models would not fit so sold old one and bought correct one.

I built bumpers for my buggies and we just mock up the winch and then design top covering, so that what would work well for you as well,

Great point.... Maybe bumper model, winch model, and top opening might be better info. Wasn't sure what winch I'm buying yet but that may definitely dictate the size. I guess I'm hoping to see "X" size will fit multiple winches and I can go with that. I'll try to remember to grab a pic of the solid model I have so far and post it up.

My JK has a LOD full width with Engo E9000S winch. Opening is 25 1/2” wide, 8” high, 7” deep. If I was designing this bumper for this winch, I’d move the mounting holes back about 1” as the top mounted solenoid wiring “ just” fits, but a little more room sure would be nice. Good luck with your project.

Thanks. I think my depth will be limited to the distance from the grill to the front of the frame horns. This looks to be right around 7".

Here's a pic of what I have so far. Hope it comes through ok.

One other thought, if you think you’ll ever want to flat tow your Jeep, now’s the time to add tow bar mounts. That was one of the reasons I got my LOD as the manufacturer added mount points for my Blue Ox towbar at no charge. The mounts don’t protrude as far as the “D” ring mounts, (1-1/2” vs. 2-1/4”)but are super convenient to use if needed.

Thanks for the advice. I'm hoping to have a winch on it soon and then I'll have to move it. Thinking of going the removable when I mean business route. Probably wouldn't have one on at all if it wasn't my daily driver.
