Show your mounted spare 35”

Want ideas for a tire carrier that looks clean with a 35” tire on it. Show both tub and swing mount carriers!

Here is mine, currently on stock carrier.

Love that mount, just wish it was a little cheaper. I’m sure you get what you pay for though. How long have you had it?

if you call northridge4x4 you can get the complete set up hinge and carrier for $455. I have been running the set up for well over 100,000 miles and since 2013. Oh and dead guy ale is good stuff

Buy a tire carrier taking into consideration how you want to use your Jeep. If you are looking to carry more than a tire look for one like AEV, JCR and Maxumus-3 among others; the later is modular and you can add CB antenna, lights, gas/water container and shovel.

I went with the Maximus myself, kind of expensive but made here in US, super strong, has the features above and you don't loose a recovery point.

One pic is the summer application and the other my winter. I’m running the smittybilt xrc Gen 2 frame mounted carrier. Add the 45 degree mount for the summer.

I called them on Friday, they said the best they can do is 566, they mentioned it was 455 on Black Friday last year but wouldn’t give me that price. Maybe I’ll call again and talk to a different rep.

That set up is dangerous...
The rear tire carrier is only rated for a stock tire...
Anything 33 inch and above can and will cause the brackets to split and break... Mine did it with 33s...
If your tire fly's off and kills someone you will be responsible...

Good point, I’ll keep my spare in the trunk until I get a mount or carrier that is rated to hold it.

You can inspect maybe your bracket works better...
Also check your door hinges you may start to fatigue...
Check the door itself and see if you see anything wrong at all I had a buddy who trashed his rear cargo gate all fatigued metal and he was going with an HD carrier that bolts to hinges to see if he could get weight off back door and hide it...

Thanks for the pics. When I removed my spare I didn’t see anything like this, luckily.

Has not being able to adjust mount height ever been an issue for you?

A few weeks ago I installed the Rugged Ridge Spartacus.

I'm VERY happy so far.

I also installed the Xprite wheel brake light kit. I remember seeing this a few years back when this style brake light first came out. They used to have 5-6 big leds, but now the style with the small LEDs forming a complete circle looks great now.

Looks great! Can’t wait to have my spare tire on again, my Jeep looks so different without it. Also, which tail lights do you have? They look good.

Here is my current setup: optional Mopar tailgate reinforcement and oversize spare tire. They came mounted from the factory.

I love the tailgate reinfircement; not the oversized spare tire: too much fuss without any real benefit.

PS: the oversize tire carrier came mounted loosely from the factory. Two weeks ago I removed the spare tire, adjusted the carrier and tightened everything. But the carrier seems to be coming loose again; the spare tire shows a growing bit of play when I close the tailgate.

I may get a takeoff OE spare tire carrier with the built-in brake light and put this one on Craigslist.

I run the Teraflex mount on both our Jeeps, the first HD hinge and still the best IMO. (both are 37s though)

Yes, I agree: the hinged carrier works great!

BTW, the TeraFlex and Mopar hinged carriers are one and the same. I’ve owned both: they are identical. Mopar must be sourcing it from TeraFlex.

SB Atlas carrier and bumper

The angle makes it look of center, but it's not. And the tires is at it lowest point to allow a normal trailer hitch.

The only things that is a bummer is that the Harbor Freight style cans fit and they are tight that the can paint begins is scratched off then begins to rust and that the tire being stuck out limits a hitch carrier to the HF ATV style. This requires that the tire is raised up to allow the up sweep of the carrier.

It is still tight and no rattles from the wheel and tire. The high lift jack of course rattles because I kept the bottom plate on the jack. I've had it on for 2 years.
