10 inch sub placement

I'm getting two 10 inch kicker subs and looking at places to install them. I'm trying to avoid the trunk so I can still use it. Anyone have any creative ideas?

Man I've tried everything in the world...the only place for 10" subs is behind the seat. You can get super creative and install them IN the rear seat, but takes quite a bit of work. Your space is really limited. If you switch to 8" subs, you might be able to get away with a custom box behind the front seats.

Alternatively, you could build a custom box for your 2 10" and create storage on top/below the box. I've done that before and it's been very successful.

^ Dude is on dust. I paid $108 shipped for my Pioneer TS-SWX251. Just lays on the floor, fits behind the rear seat with the gate closed perfectly, or you can just take out the seat like I did and leave it be. Simple.

i ripped out my back seat to make room for my enclosure(and i also did it so that i wasnt designated driver when going to the bar) its a 12" Death Penalty from incriminator audio, running on a MB Quart DSC-2000.1d. i was running it at 2000watts(500 over rms) and was hitting over 185dB.

Was that Lmax or Leq? You can't trust one of those dinky SLMs. You're saying you're hitting 185dB @ 31hz?

With 2 10"s, I think the trunk is your only option. You may be able to do 2 small enclosures to fit on the sides near the rear seat. What subs are you using?

Tell the shop to check their meter, because it's broke....

If you were hitting 185dB you'd die. I work in acoustics. Real acoustics.

And no not real die. But your head might blow up. I get 105dB to my face often with ear plugs in doing TL testing. 110db of pink noise without earplugs ****ING SUCKS.

As they say "more is more." Especially when talking to a salesman.

they just have one of the small hand held meters, i tuned up the amp to push 2250 watts, it was just a quick blurp. so that was cutting it close to clipping. at 1500 watts its in the 130's around 30-32hz

Sorry for the delays, spent most of the weekend off road and off grid.

They are kicker 10", I picked a set up used and got a decent price. I'm just trying to round the sound out a little. I could go with just one 10" which maybe easier to hide. I dont really use my trunk for anything, but at the same time would be nice to put them somewhere else in the rig. Anyone have designs for a 10" sub?

There are free enclosure plans on caraudio.com's forum. Thats where i go for plans. Just find out kickers recommended enclosure size. They should have a size for both sealed and ported enclosures.

Sorry, man, I just don't believe you hit 185 db... If you said you were in the 130's with 1500 watts, than 2250 watts doesn't put you at 185. You have to DOUBLE the rated power in order to achieve a 3db gain, yes 3db louder when you double the power... you don't go from 130 db to 185 db by less than doubling your power, it just doesn't work like that.
