basic wiring help for some LEDs (15' JK)

hows it goin everyone !
im looking to do a little mod next weekend when all the parts come it, really basic stuff, i'm trying to light up the bottom of my rear seats with a few LEDs. i want them to power on when i turn my headlights on at night. i saw a video on taping into the side markers but that calls for breaching the fire wall. is there a easier way ?

Ok you could come in around door trim...
So you want lights on while driving but back lit under seat for a soft glow effect?
Grab some 1' length LED colored light strips...like I did...
Red LED strips 12"
6X Waterproof 12'' 15 DC 12V Motor LED Strip Underbody Light for Car Motorcycle | eBay

2 at rear of Jeep along bottom edge of tailgate...

Front Seats under front dash...

Under Front seats for back seat floorboard illumination...

Now lets pull Power for these...and think about a couple of options...

Ok wanted to save then continue so youd know someone was helping ya out a bit...and I could sum it all up at one time for ya...

Ok if you really want to wire up these to work you have a couple options...

1) You would like them on anytime you have running lights on and 100% at night...
Simple you could find the wire that goes out to the front for the park lights and tap it...
or run in from front then connect as you had mentioned about the firewall...

2) Switched for use at any time you want, which also could be wired to a Hot activated toggle switch or hardwired to work...
This prevents leaving them on after you get out...

3) Switched to Dome light...this is how mine is set up...tapped wire under passenger seat, then use the dome switch to turn on and off plus doors also trigger them on and off...

Ok you stated quite clearly you wanted to be able to run them always while in running lamp mode...

So I would kinda lean you toward a switched set up so you could turn them off and on a whim...
If you want to stick with the hard-wire set up look at this...
https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/he...re-220870.html

To wire up to toggle as referenced in 2) then simply pull a switched power wire to the toggle and wire LEDs to that, then turn on any time you want...with or without headlights...

Here is how and what I did for the tap into the Dome...
To do this I removed the side floor panel on the passenger side, I have heard people say the Yellow wire with white stripe which is noticably smaller in dia. I found this part not true it seemed to be the same size on my jeep...who knows...
Anyhow it was the Dome light so I tapped in with inline splice and then ran the two front LED strips from there grounding to the strap support on the passenger side, there is a slight lip under the dash to stick too that prevents direct view of the RED leds and actually works perfect.

Next I ran two from the Tailgate so when closed it would throw light into rear cargo area, ground to sub bracket at rear of vehicle by hinges, then feed a single wire up and connect under seat and floor carpets that also will provide power to the under the Driver and passenger seats...
Again a small edge of metal to affix to hiding the led from direct view.
I had a wire harness already to use that was already inside of a black sleeve so it looks factory, I also left enough room for wire to travel the entire slide area of the seats. This will allow the rear seats to be removed without messing with the wires at all and provides perfect lighting throughout the jeep.

Im good with it...

Chaos, instead of going forward, go aft. Tap into the tail lights. Just watch the draw of the LED's you are putting in so you don't overload the circuit.

Boom !
Recieved the parts and had it done in under 3 hours. Would have been shorter but I checked the leds making sure they worked every step of the way.

Sparky, I didn't think of wiring them to the tail. Thanks for the future idea buddy !

They look great...
How did you wire it up?
Did you go lit up anytime you have park lights on or switched?

I actually tapped into the driver side turn signal. i found a way to avoid breaching the fire wall.
They turn on when I switch my headlights on for the night. During the day they are off.

Ok thats cool. I would have wanted to be able to turn them off sometimes so I went dome...But Green and Red like ours could be driven around all the time on...
