Car radio getting poor signal

Hey guys, I recently replaced my stock radio with a JVC aftermarket radio. Ever since installing the new radio I get poor signal. I can still get signal if I select them manually, but they are fuzzy. If I try to use the arrow button that automatically stops at each radio station it only stops on one or two stations on the entire band. I've taken everything off again to check and its all plugged in correctly. What could cause this issue? Could there be a problem with the new adapter cable I bought that connects the radio antenna to the radio?

Could be. No signal getting in indicates the antenna & cable. I'd start with making sure all the antenna cable connection are snug.

Course you could have a bad radio, but start with antenna first.

I had a similar issue with a different vehicle.
The aftermarket radio didn't bring the signal in as strongly as the OEM... changed the radio and it got better.
You can also pick up a signal booster...

x2 on zamfield......probably the radio. I couldn't get AM radio on my pioneer....recently swapped it out with a kenwood....( along with a new amp and some new 10" subs)......and whammo....AM is back.

Please refrain on the AM radio jokes!!! I know I am getting old.
