Arrow CB parts list check please

Hey guys. Looking into my first CB purchase. I have not decided on the model yet, but it is looking like a Cobra 29 - I like autoscan.

Anyway, please let me know your thoughts on the following parts:

Amazon.com: FireStik II FS4-BB 4' CB Antenna Easy Tune BLUE: Electronics

Amazon.com: FireStik K-1A Push-n-Twist quick disconnect: Electronics

Amazon.com: FireStik K4 Antenna Stud Mounts: Electronics

Amazon.com: Firestik SS-3H Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Antenna Spring: Car Electronics

Amazon.com: FireStik K-8A 18 foot single antenna coax cable: Electronics

The stud mount is required right?

Thanks!

2 things jump at me - what are you gonna mount that stud to? And 2nd, with a quick disco and a spring you will have a heck of a time tuning your system.

It goes radio, coax, stud, mounting bracket, quick disco, spring, antenna. Yes, you will need the stud. Make sure to get a good ground on the mounting bracket.

Where are you mounting the radio?

I was going to get the RR spare mount. I know, not the best spot but I think a 4' should be ok there. Radio is going above the rear view, I will have to fab up a bracket. I was worried about the SWR levels using the quick-disconnect. Problem is I am in parking garages in Boston sometimes and it would have to come off from time to time.

Maybe look at a wilson flex and a quick disco? Never used one but I hear good about em.

I just think adding several inches in length will be a can-o-worms.

Maybe others can be insightful?

Everything looks good, but I would have to agree with everyone about the spring and antenna. We have the Firestik Firefly which is a great flexible CB antenna. Also we carry everything you will need for your setup and can ship same day when your order is placed before 3pmEST Depending on where you plan on mounting your antenna, you might want to look at our MK-J4R mounting kit. Or if on the front is not what you are looking for, you can use the SS-64A kit and mount it to the tub near the taillight.

And one more note: the Firestik K4 is not compatible with the Firestik K8A; the K4 is a lug style stud and the K8A use PL259's for SO239 studs like the K4A stud.

Thanks for the help! I am more concerned with quick detachment than flexibility anyway. We will be in touch.

^^ That.
Think about how often you see a semi truck rig with a spring mount. We do a little more bouncing but a good fiberglass whip is going to hold up just fine.

Choosing a CB is such a pain! Do I want a modern look like an 880 that has scan, or do I want a classic look without scan like the Uniden PC78LTW? I can't decide! I was at first going to get a Cobra 29LX but I just can't decide. I figure I really want scan mode.

Scanning is useful when you're trucking but if you are going out on a ride ya'll generally pick a channel before hand. There aren't a lot of conversations just floating around out in the wilderness. Now in the city, you can certainly hear some interesting ones, especially if you speak spanish. My problem with scan is it always gets hung up on ch5 and 6 which have the guys with the fat illegal transformers running signal half way around the globe that I can't talk to and don't really want to listen to for long.

Just my 2cents. Scan is a great feature and you can always not use it if you have it but it's hard to use if you don't.

Get one with a weather feature.

There are 10 weather freq. in the US, some radios get 3, some 7, some 10, if I remember right. They will tell you your most local weather forcasts, and IMO, a 3 band is plenty 99% of the time. Having said that, I can pick up all 10. And skywarn

My two shillings.

Ordered a 29 LX, I measured and saw pics of where I want it and it should fit. I'll do an install how-to when it gets here.

I did a quick write up on my Facebook album, I made it public if anyone is interested. That AZ mount is great, highly recommend.
