clarification

ok, basically i am not sure whether i should upgrade my head unit first, or go ahead and upgrade the speakers first. Ive always used alpine, and i don't really want to settle for anything else. but since buying a jeep, and all the fun things that come along with it, i am suddenly broke Ive decided to break this project into two stages.

will the stock speakers sound absolutely horrible with a new head unit?

the only reason im reluctant to upgrade the speakers first is because the stock head unit doesn't have a CD player, and i have to use a cassette adapter to play music from my Ipod...its just a pain in the ass. and it looks like crap.

but i can deal with it for a month or two if it is really a better idea to replace the speakers first.

also: from what i understand, 6 1/2 inch speakers should fit in the existing soundbar locations.

and 5 1/2 inch speakers will supposedly fit in the dash with an adapter that is immposible to find.
so what sould i do for the dash? plate speakers? or 4 inch speakers

im confrustrated.
