Cobra 29 NW LTD "Classic"

anybody has it ? I looking at getting a radio and I'm not sure what I want, I used to have a cobra but thats longggg time ago.

i'm thinking about placing the antena in the front by the hood on the driver side and probably a 4ft antena.

that's for sure ! but at the same time I don't want to be disapointed and whishing 2 month later that I would have spent an extra 30 bucks for a radio.
what do you mean bent to front for the antenna. is it this one you are talknig about ? I see it only in 62" ( Wilson 5000 Trunk CB Antenna - $79.95

What will you be using it for? Offroad only? if thats the case just go with a uniden or midland 1001 or cobra DX III/DV IV or something. you dont need any cool looking CBs to get reception.

I originally had the Bluetooth Cobra edition, but I didnt feel like risking it getting stolen so I sold it and got a Cobra DX III. Though I do need to get it tuned to the antenna by Stevens off this forum, who I shamefully blew off yesterday.

Remember you tune the antenna to the output of the radio not the other way around.

I got to the desert a lot by myself, the hwy is not that far around 4 miles, I'll rather have a better radio in case I need to reach somebody. I have to check the size of the radio and if it fit I'll put it in the dash instead of the regular radio.
i'm still not decided yet for the antena, but after some reading, I leaning torward the wilson 5000 probaby with the roof mount, I just need to see where and how I'll install it.

Look at a BROWNING BR-27 antenna or something similar for antenna wise if you need that lil extra distance. Radios are only as good as the antenna its attached to. I had a cobra NW maybe it was because of the firestick I had with it but I did not like it at all I saw the truck when I was driving with one he was of my buddies when three of us were driving and I could not even pick him up. My buddy in the middle had to relay to me. I dunno if it was the Cobra or it was the antenna but I ditched both got my Browning as recommended by my local radio shop put that to my RCI-2950dx and it was a complete turnaround it was like night and day. I picked up skip reached out 10-15 miles away I was getting more replies as I was driving. It could of been just from the antenna I should one day put my cobra in again and see how it works with the browning but I really like my RCI.

I'll check them out, thx. I'll definetly get the best antenna I can get, this is why I haven't bought anything yet cuz $$ Xmass coming I have a lots of gifts to send ( do not send me your address it wont work...)
you probably had a problem with the setting of your antenna. on your cobra, there is simple way to "boost" it a little. you can find this on the www.

I looked around vegas and couldn't find a single cb shop the one that had good review is no longer in business... I'll shop on line.

Your antenna works great because 2/3 of it is over the top of your Jeep.

If you want long range service, look into Ham Radios.

CB radios will exist at all the traffic shops, im sure Vegas has a trucker stop like "loves" or "J whatever". theyre not the greatest prices, but theyre on par with retail.

If you do get the Firestik Antenna make sure you get the FS series not KW
