F you Crooks...

So I wanted some more bumps in my trunk, and boom for my room and kicks in my licks and shakin in my bacon...so I installed an addition to my Jeep JKU.

Here is what the Central Valley crooks see....

Here is what I hear and see...

The speaker has padding inside for vibration and noise reduction. The 12" Alpine Type R sub did lose a bit of thump....but still has plenty for what I want. I'm happy with my ingenuity.

Now...I got that Boom Boom Boom.

Yep, have to say post a link instead of an image. Just copy/paste the header on your browser.
As your sig says, don't get ground down, sometimes things just don't work the way they should.

Way back in the 70s, I lived in a neighborhood that had the highest insurance rates in the US at the time (SF tenderloin).
I have always been a fan of 'clean' music, (no distortion, fuzz etc) so was willing to put a lot of cash into sound systems. In the car I owned then,(a 1971 maverick) I took an old factory AM only radio and glued all the knobs and buttons in place, then took it to work and cut the front off of it. Then built a recessed mount for my good radio. When I parked, I'd stick the 'junk' radio face in front of the good radio and lock the car.
Odd thing is that today, that 'useless am only radio' is worth about 14 times what my 'good' radios are.

I remember when they use to sell those. A fake AM radio front, that you could use to cover over your expensive AM/FM/CB/8-Track radio.

8 track! Wow . . . that's like ancient. HAHAHA!

-

I have an original (bought it new while in high school) 1970 Muntz Stereo Pak 4 & 8 track player in my '66 El Camino.

Jimi Hendrix tape in it currently.

Also still have my original Muntz 'Blue Light' 4 track player.

(It didn't hurt that I lived 5 miles from the Muntz main store in Van Nuys!)

-

And bringing out the 'Wayback Machine' . . . I had one of these in my Freshman year! It wasn't new, but sure garnered a lot of attention, and even worked.

-

Guess I'm ancient too!

Picked up a 70 mach 1 mustang way back when my wife and I first got together in the early 80s. Bought it, drove it home, played with it for a few years then decided to do some upgrades. It had an AM/8 track radio (No FM) in it. You know, I placed that radio on a resto site and made enough money to rebuild the original 351c 4v engine.

I used to have one of those record players, took it out of my Grandmother's old Dodge.
Funny thing with my Grandma, she ALWAYS owned some type of Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth. Didn't matter what, it was going to be made by Chrysler corp.
One day (I was maybe 13-14) she called my mom up to giver her a ride to get plates for her 'new' car.
So we all piled in the car, drove over to Gram's. And first thing I see as we're walking up to the door is a 2 door dodge with a wheeled, helmet wearing bee on the quarter panels. I almost tripped over my own jaw.
She ended up returning it a week later because it 'sounded like something was wrong with it'.

Sucks when you can't slap some sense into relatives!
