Favorite backup camera?

Hi all, I'm looking to purchase a backup camera for the JKU and I'm going to get an aftermarket head unit as well.

Do you have a favorite backup camera that you've installed?

My favorite backup camera is my head turning to look behind me after looking directly behind my vehicle before I climb inside.
IcarusLSC and FJNOMO like this.

surprisingly, this lil' bastid has held up like a champ for the past year and a half. Geri cam has taken a beating in all of the elements and then some. better than some of the higher priced crap i've purchased in the past that started to fog up due to car washes.

  1. I like the seamless install(no drill in bumper)
  2. 3rd taillight allows me to remove the stock 3rd taillight for extra viz
  3. Alpine gives me some extra functionality(I'm installing an Alpine head unit)

Maybe it's not worth it, but I'm betting that it is.

As usual, Quadratec is WAY higher than anyone else on most items in their catalog.

That camera is $399.99 at Quadratec but only $314.99 at https://www.amazon.com/Alpine-Electr...CAM1-WRA+T-CAM

Well this is good to know! With WF discount I think it would be around $365 on QT.

Luckily I didn't buy this from QT anyway and am getting it at a local shop instead. Not quite as cheap as Amazon, but close enough.

I'll have to remember to price check...

What extra functionality do you get with an Alpine Head Unit?
I was installing an Alpine iLX-107 with a Crux camera, I didnt think think the Alpine camera did anything different.

Same one I'm using. Originally installed on a Pioneer 4100NEX and now on the 10.1" Seicane.

Having an Alpine HU shows little cones on the screen, in green, yellow, red, to help assess distance. They are adjustable too. Too my knowledge, that isn't available if you just hook up a camera to the stock HU.
