HD radio

I was thinking about upgrading to HD radio. Has anyone done this?

Most consider it a waste of $$$. Plus that HD doesn't stand for high definition at all, that's just a misleading term they use. So far, HD is taking off like molasses in January since it offers limited availability plus it's not as good sounding as the HD term implies.

My friend's a big radio geek and he recently bought an HD radio...in his opinion, HD radio is GREAT.

IF you live in an area with plenty of HD channels...which basically means you need to live in or very near a big city. I live about 30 minutes north of Dayton, OH and there's very few stations that can be picked up.

In my opinion, based on what he's told me...it's not worth the money. It does however have the potential to be great when its more widely available. My friend said the quality is amazing compared to AM and FM (I haven't heard any comparison between satellite radio and HD...I'd guess satellite is probably better).

Oh, also...with HD radio, unlike AM and FM, where your stations may get fuzzy if you start to lose reception, HD just cuts out completely unless you have a good signal. That would get annoying real fast if you're going through areas with a lot of small dead zones.

thanks guys. I live just north of boston, and there are supposedly 3 bands of channels per radio station here, but my stations start to go fuzzy by my town. I would hate it if they just cut out completely. I'll probably just stick with my FM/AM for now.
