How did you do it?

I just got a 2015 JKU and the audio is terrible! When you roll the windows down you might as well turn the radio off... I do not have the factory sub but the stereo is a non nav but has the Blu Tooth..... I guess it is second in line as far as performance from the factory. Anyway, I have been looking at the sub in a box package from Quadratech for $1200 and then I saw the one that hangs on the tailgate for $500... Which is better? Has anybody used them? or what did you do. I understand the rest of the speakers are pretty much junk and I should replace those too. I have seen that they have replacement speakers for those too.

I did notice there is a disclaimer on the $1200 box that you must have the OEM stereo..... But if you bough an aftermarket that plugs into the factory harness then why does that matter?

Thanks for the help!

You could do under the front seats for ~$1200, that would be two 10" subs and a 1000w amp.

Are ya handy with woodworking, do you have the tools, etc...?

I did the subwoofer mod, swapped out the stock with an 8" JL Audio sub for about $80 or so, installed a new Pioneer stereo with all the bells & whistles, didn't really need it for sound, but the nav, traffic, etc.. is nice plus the old head unit crapped out. Already had the amplifiers for the sub and front/soundbar speakers which I swapped with some infinitys. All was good but Fri night I built a quick box to spec and it sounds way better than that stock enclosure. Still not enough thump for my tastes, looking at yanking the stock box and making a custom fiberglass enclosure that'll wrap around the fender & rollbar in the same spot as the stock box. Plus make it a couple inches taller.

For me - I'd rather take the money from a pre-built box, build my own and get better subs/amp/etc... Making boxes from MDF/particle board is pretty easy so I'd give it a shot if you have the means to give it a shot. Heck, Home Depot might even cut the boards for you where all you'll need to do is glue & screw em together. If you're near north Houston, I'd do it - I enjoy these types of projects.
