Jeep Unlimited power remote locks install with a viper alarm

Afternoon Gents

My having a alarm shop install viper alarm it has door unlock feature. Planning on getting one those kits with four units off amazon With either just Actuators or the kit and remote.

The question is, is if my company installs my viper alarm is the remote door wiring that comes with it plug and play when I install the Actuators?

Thanks

Going to start the install of door lock actuators and then the Viper 4105 remote start/access after that. Mine is a 2005 Wrangler X and has no factory wiring. You will need to install two relays for the door lock actuators. Whomever is installing the Alarm System could put the relays in for you and leave pigtails for you to splice the door lock actuators into. I an using the four actuators in a "kit" from an Amazon vendor. These are two wire actuators (hence the need for the relays). Have all the diagrams of the electrical on how it will work, just now doing the install. Biggest hold up was deciding how to run the wires into the doors. After looking at lots of options, just going to do it the same way Jeep did in the 2008 Plus Wranglers that came with power locks, hang the wire off the footman strap.

I am NO fan of aftermarket burglar alarms/ignition kill circuits, etc. as they often end up giving a lifetime of problems like dead batteries from being miswired or inability to start the engine, which is way more common than some want to believe. Even when installed by so-called "alarm shops" whose employees range from qualified to downright inept... like hiring former stereo installers who barely know what they're doing.

I have a friend with a JK who has a Viper alarm with all the bells & whistles and she has barely been able to drive it the past 3 years due to it constantly draining the battery. My guess is someone miswired a relay so it stays constantly energized and only de-energizes momentarily to do its job which is possible due to having both normally-open and normally-closed relay contacts and they selected the wrong contacts to use.

Over 20 years of being involved with Wranglers and reading of all the problems aftermarket alarms cause leaves me with two conclusions: 1) NEVER let a shop install an alarm or security system on my TJ. 2) If I ever decide I want one, I'll install it myself to insure I know how it was installed and that I'll know it was done correctly.

And even though I had a TJ stolen years ago, I am not going to chance installing one. I get too far out into the boondocks with my TJ to ever want to chance it failing on me and making it impossible to get it started or keep the battery from being drained without having to remove it from the circuits it is attached to.

I agree with Jerry with at least one of his points - I don't like somebody else messing with the electrical in my vehicle - that said -

The Viper alarm should have a blue and a green lock out put. When activated these go to ground. Because of this you will need to install (or have installed) two relays - Viper calls it a 778 relay, which is two five pin Bosch style relays wired together. If you do a web search you should find a diagram for the 742 actuators and the 778 relay. So, if the alarm installer will just label the two lock output wires for you to attach to later then you will be good. the website Car Alarm, Car Stereo, Mobile Video, and Cruise Control Info for Installers will give you a lot of information on wiring relays, for the door actuators and the like.
Any of the door actuators you had links to will work. I bought four off amazon. Installed over the weekend and they work fine.
Not a difficult job. Just have to think it through and draw it out on paper if it helps.
