Kicker 5.25 for Dash.

First I want to apologize if this has been answered before but I couldnít find the information. Iíve had my first Jeep for just two months and have been considering affordable upgrades. As we all know the 130 HU is not very good but for now it will have to do. Iíve considered the Kicker upgrade and while rummaging through my garage found a new set of Kicker 5.25 40CS54 my son had. Being gracious as he is he offered them to me and the Crutchfield website states they will fit in the dash with a minor alteration. My question is has anyone installed these and if so what alteration was needed? I plan to get the Kicker 77kick10 for the sound bar and was wondering if that causes any problems? I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination and am just looking for a better sound. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You'll need a speaker adapter to make the 5.25's fit. Metra, among others, makes them - Crutchfield probably sells them. Frankly, I'd put the 77kick10's in the sound bar, some 77kick25ab's in the dash, and then see if you wanted to go further or not. I did this for my wife's '18 with a 430 radio and it sounds pretty good. I replaced all 8 speakers and the HU in my '15 and while the HU is MUCH easier to operate than the 130 it replaced, the sound quality is surprisingly similar to my wife's jeep. I have more overall volume while she has more bass. In fact, if I can find the energy, I might just put her old 6.75 speakers in my dash to see if they produce more bass or if it's my aftermarket HU that doesn't.

Thanks for the feedback. Most likely I will just get the 77Kick10s for both the dash and sound bar. If I need to spend more for the adapter I might as well get matching speakers and let my son sell the 5.25s. A new HU is in the future but not sure which one. Plenty of great resources here on the forum I can research,
