Looking for a DSP without breaking the bank

I and hesitant to remove my 430 HU for put in an Alpine restyle until because of theft. Especially with top down and or doors off around here.

So thinking a DSP might and should give me better sound from my 430 HU.
Using an Alpine amp with Kicker/Alpine speaker combo now.

Sound is good as it can be from a 430, especially when streaming of an iOS device. Yes, Sirius XM not the best and what I listen to the most. Hoping a DSP will give me better sound.

Thoughts?

A DSP will definitely make for better sound. The stock head unit cuts the lows and exaggerates the highs. As far as breaking the bank well not sure I could help there as I don't know the bank size.

I'll assume for right now that your using an external Alpine amp and not the stock amp. If you are using the stock amp I have also heard that it plays games with the signal also.

My first recommendation is the Audio Control D-4.800 amplifier. Besides being an amplifier it is also a 30 band DSP. It is a 4 channel amp with a sub out. If you can bridge your Alpine amp it could run a subwoofer. Cost $700. There is also it's bigger brother the D-6.1200 which is really a slick setup with the 6 channel out it allows you to go active on the front speakers, run the rear speakers and has a sub out. Or you can just run it as a 4 channel or 5 channel amp. Cost for that is $1000 but very well good last you a long time on many different vehicles.

Straight DSP's like Audio Controls DM-608 and DM-810 are also very good pieces but of course you need down stream amps to use them. I like both of these because there is the possibility of future lossless wireless connection between say a Tablet and the DSP, something I am very interested in. Cost of these units are $600 and $700.

The reason I focused on these units is how simple the DSP section is to tune. You don't need a bunch of test equipment to get the sound right. It also can store different configurations in the unit, one for when the top is on and another when it is off. If I was to do it all over again I would go one of these routes and that is even with an aftermarket head unit.

Terry, right now using an AudioControllC2i to defreat low issues. Highs seem fine.
Also running the Alpine KTP-44 power pack and a Kicker HS8 powered sub.
So a straight up DSP will work. I am good with power now and sound is ok on HU and pretty decent via iOS.
Trying to improve sound for under $700-750 and keep DSP out of sight.

Then either the DM-608 or DM-810 would fit the bill. Once you mount it all the tuning is done via laptop. It seems under the passenger seat would be perfect and would still allow you to hook up the USB anything you wanted to tune.

The hideaway sub is located there.
This is the issue I will run into, space for it

Well then I don't know what to tell you. You are going to need access to any DSP you look at. I don't really have any other recommendations. Looking at Cructhfield this might fit your bill, Rockford Fosgate DSR1. It is small but I don't have a lot of info on it. In fact until today I had no idea it existed. The price is sure right if it is any good.
