New Headunit Questions

I have an alpine headunit already in my jeep, installed by someone else before i owned it. I was wondering, if i wanted to install another head unit with like, an ipod input. Would it be just a basic plug/unplug or would i have to re-wire everything...

What if I was going from an Alpine head unit, to another alpine head unit. I don't need it to be any louder or anything, I would just like the ability to plug my iPhone into it...

it might have the same harness on both the alpine units. to re-wire the harnesses takes 10 minutes, all the wires are color coated so its just match up the colors and your done.

Okay thanks. One last question haha. I have an old "Thump" amp that says 225watts + 225watts. If I only wanted to hook up one sub woofer, would I have to find one that can handle like 250 watts or 500 watts.

Honestly I'm new to this and not sure... I know it's a "Thump" THA-2000.. It's kind of old and the stuff written on it is scratched off and I'm not sure what I would look for..

from what ive seen theres a spot where it looks like you could plug two in. But the way its hooked up now is one wire all the way too the left, and one all the way too the right.. skipping the two 'outputs' im assuming in the middle..

That is bridged. That means that the two outputs are "Bridged" together to create a single output that is, in most cases, twice the output to one speaker. From what I could piece together on Google, this is 2 ohm stable when it's bridged, which means that you can use 2 4 ohm subs in parallel ( + from amp to both +'s on the subs and the same with the -'s) or a single dual coil at four ohms, also wired in parallel.

Here's a good link with some help.
