NMO mount question

I'm getting ready to install a radio in my JK. After a ton of research, I bought an AUJ1 fender mount and a Diamond C213SNMO Well, the antenna mount is smaller than the hole on the fender mount and leaves a lot of room for the "stud" to move around. I did receive a large pistol grip lock washer but I don't believe I need it since the bottom part of the mount has it's own teeth.

So, am I good with what I have or should I find something that fits the 3/4" hole. I'm completely new to this so be gentle....

it looks like you have the wrong mount for that cable assembly.

NMO typically requires a 3/4" hole, but some also make a 3/8 (more of a specialty item).

that's what I was thinking too... the one I have measures 3/8. Should I use it or just order another coax

Other than pre-fab magnetic mount antenna, CB fiberglass antenna usually use either a PL-259 on antenna end of the coax, or a 3/8" o-ring connector for a matching 3/8" stud connector. The NMO mount on the coax you have is generally used on other "ham" mobile antennas. You need to match the connector on the antenna to the complementary connector on your coax, and the mount itself.

Clear as mud?

That NMO mount should work w/o that additional lock washer. just center the 'inside' mount and screw on the other side, tight.

There is a NMO bracket on ebay for the passenger windshield bracket 3/4" hole. Search Jeep JK NMO

This thread is several months old, odds are good he already figured it out. IMO NMO mounts are not a good choice for our Jeep 2m or CB radios. SO-239/PL-259 antenna connectors are easier to install and get working properly.

CB antenna mounts

I agree that the CB or 2M are more useful off-road but there are many that use NMO for government jobs and official business.

Yep. I got it hooked up, check my numbers and all was good. Loving my ID5100. Dstar is surprisingly active here in the ATL

It's been great. You can adjust the brightness AND have it auto adjust based on the time of day. Once I figured that out, I've been happy with it.

Keep in mind, this is the first mobile unit I've ever used, other units are HTs and/or CB radios
