Off road light install with factory switch

So I purchased some lightforce striker 170's with the light force install kit. However I would like to use a factory jeep fog light switch to control the lights. I. Plan on wiring the lights straight from the battery so I can use them with or without headlights being on or even with low or high beam. The issue I believe I'm having is how to wire the switch to control the dimmer function. The switch is out of a a 00 tj it is the switch that mounts next to the rear wiper and rear defrost. I know it has four wires in the back of the switch. I'm wondering what each wire is and where to wire it. Thanks for any help.

I don't know if the factory switch will hold up to that much power going through it, you might want to wire it to a relay. I added KC's to my XJ that did not have any factory fog lamp wiring. I created my own harness from what I could piece together from a Haynes manual. This is a diragram I had made up that may not be of any help (maybe the relay part?.. idk) I know the contacts inside the factory switch are delicate and too much power will fry the little sucker. Yeah microsoft paint! good luck -Todd

- With the TJ switch it will add a Orange wire (thats illiumination on the switch) the colors of the wire may be (going off '97-'01 XJ wiring, same switch) violet (goes to relay), black (ground), lt. blue (to fog lamp), and orange (illium.) and as for the relay you could skip wiring to the head lamp switch by connecting it to the ACC slot in fuse box (on all the time) or to the running lamps so the fogs would be on only when the running/ low/ high beams are on. And as for the relay #2 & 5 are either or (I think I used # 2) now, good luck -Todd

I have a wiring kit from lightforce that works with the striker 170's i just purchased. it does have a relay with the kit. my only remaining issue seems to be how to wire up the factory switch so that it still has dimming functions. On the factory harness I have I know the wire all the way to the left, its orange is the one that controls the dimming function i just have no idea where to wire it to. Could i just splice it into the dimmer wire on the wiper or defrost switch?

lots of info thanks guys!!

Yeah, just splice into the other orange wire. I spliced into the heater dimmer orange wire and ground wire on mine.
