Pioneer 4200nex not working

I installed a pioneer 4200nex in my wifeís jeep last may/june and it has worked fine until this morning. The camera worked when she backed out of the garage and halway there the radio display went out as well. She also couldnít change the volume or station from hu or stereo wheel buttons and there is no volume. Other than disconnecting and reconnecting the battery what should I try to trouble shoot? I assume since the camera worked that it is not a power issue.

I'd go for the battery disconnect, let it sit for a few minutes and then reconnect. Hopefully it only got it's eggs temporarily scrambled and just needs a reset.

If that doesnt work I'd then pull the deck and look for bad or shorted connections, although the symptoms don't seem to make this sound like the issue.

Finally...You're still under warranty right? Might need to call Pioneer if possible and see if they have a suggestion or if you just need to send it in for repair.

Itís still under warranty, just trying to troubleshoot a little before calling. Figure disconnect battery, verify voltage, verify ground and verify switched poer if these check out it should be internal and a warranty issue but wanted to check if Iím missing something.

Can you do a factory reset on the radio? I had to do one an a 4100NEX. Battery pull didn't work.

One of the issues with the 4100 and probably the 4200 is the connection from the screen to the switch panel. It is a dirt and dust magnet and also corrodes easily if it gets damp.

I had to pull mine apart and clean it but I was out of warranty. Do a factory reset and if it still doesn't work, let Pioneer deal with it.

Luckily it must of had a hiccup when firing up this morning because it worked fine on her way home. I will keep this in mind if it acts up again, we both have 4200s so thereís a good chance this will help someday.

My 7100NEX did that once. Cleared it self up about 30 min later. I wonder if there was some capacitor in there that needed a discharge or something.
