Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX - Low Level Sub Outputs

I was trying to install a Kicker Hideaway HS8 this weekend and couldnt get the low level (RCA) sub-woofer outputs to work. It seemed like it wanted to work initially then NOTHING I did seemed to work. It got late, so I had to quit. Came out Sunday morning hooked to high level (speaker) and its working (just need to set the gain correctly).

My true question - is it possible I blew the low level circuitry in the HU? I wouldnt have thought it would be that fickle, but stranger things have happened. Yes, I did go into settings and turn the subwoofer "on" as well as the "low level" input selected on the sub.

TIA

I assume your connecting it to the subwoofer output in the back of the head unit. In the audio menu, you just turn those outputs on. They are switched off from the factory.

Yes, the subwoofer output on the lower passenger side (as looking at the front) closer to the USB connects. I already have a 4ch amp connected to the front/rear outputs.

I did go through the settings menu to switch it on and it acted like it wanted to work, the sub then went crazy (hitting all kinds of bass notes) then poof went silent, no matter what I did, it just wasnt working from the low level.

More likely you damaged the woofer/amp than the output stage on the HU.

Connect the sub to the rear channels and see if you get anything. If not, it is a bad woofer unit. If you do get sound from the rear channel outputs, reconnect it to the sub outputs and test again. If still nothing then it is possible you damaged the output stage.

Good luck
