rechargable flashlight hardwire?

I have rechargable flashlight on its way. I want to mount the charger/ cradle inside the jeep and hardwire the cord. It would normally plug into the cigg lighter. The cord and cradle/charger are seperate. I would do this in a location that is not visually enticing by a thief.(under the dash) I also do not want to use the outlet in the middle storage compartment area. Is this a good idea?

Sounds like a plan to me. I would wire it directly to the battery, using an in-line fuse.

I don't know if I'd go straight to the battery without a switch or an ignition controlled relay. The draw will be light but you have a chance of draining the battery.

Why not wire to the switched power source in dash? Just hook to back side of it behind panel.

It came in today. The instructions say i can remove the plug on the car charger to hardwire, but reccomends a two amp fuse. Streamlight also reccomends connecting to an unswitched source to ensure light is fully charged at all times. But it also says to remove the light if not going to drive for a few days to avoid battery drain.

Im not going to take the chance of battery draining. Thanks for the input guys!
