Rockford Fosgate vs. Polk mid-ranges

If you're thinking of upgrading your speakers, just a few extra dollars on entry level Polk or Infinity will make a HUGE difference compared with the cheap stuff.

I had been running 40W RMS Rockford Fosgate P152C speakers in my TJ sound pods for several years. Even on day one, I never thought they were particularly good or bad... just louder than the factory cones they replaced. I think I paid about $60 for them back in 2008.

Yesterday I replaced them with a set of Polk DB521, about $80/pair on Amazon. Holy cow. Way better sound. The tweeters are so much cleaner and crisp, with absolutely no unpleasant "squelchy" tones, even at high volume.

I still have Rockford Fosgate 4x6 in the front. Going to replace those pronto.

I'm just running a 50Wx4 head unit, no separate amp, factory sub (Quadratec replacement cone).
