Sound Bar upgrade question

Good morning everyone.

I did a search, but didn't find what I was looking for. Hell even YouTube wasn't much help.

My '16 JKRHR has the Alpine upgrade, so in my sound bar I have both the 6.5 inch what I think are two ways, but I've also go what looks like 3.25 inch (I know the size is right) tweeters.

All of the upgrade threads that I've read only talk about upgrading the 6.5's, but don't see anything about the tweeters.

What is everyone doing about the tweeters?

Are they even true tweeters or are they "full range"?

I'm struggling with doing this upgrade. If I do the 6.5s, I want to do the 3.25s too, it doesn't make much sense to me to do one without the other.

Suggestions or comments?

Exco

I am a bit late in posting but most users here just replace the speakers in the soundbar with a coaxial 6.5 and disconnect the tweeter for a quick and easy installation. The soundbar are just rear fill speakers since you want most of of the sound coming from the front.

As for me: I am replacing the sound bar speakers with components. I got a great deal on matching components or else i would just went with a coaxial setup. If you go with a component setup you will have more to wire up etc..

Try this thread: https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/st...ap-662985.html It's quite comprehensive about modifying and/or replacing the tweeters in the front and the soundbar.

Happy Trails,

Thanks for the replies. I had pretty much decided on doing as @Northstar01 suggested and just replace the 6.5s with some decent coaxial speakers and not really worry about the tweeters.

I did pull things apart to take a look. I was surprised at the size of the magnets in the OEM speakers. The overall depth of the speaker was actually a little larger than an old Pioneer 6.5 that I had lying around (not sure how I ended up with only one speaker).

I will also most likely need to fab something up for mounting brackets, or go with a 6.75 speaker (if they can be found).

@Exocastie good to hear! While you are at it get some poly fill to help fill up the speaker pods just do not overfill it.

You may also maybe able to use the stock speaker brackets, but that will require you to destroy the stock speaker if you care.
