Stereo security

Just bought my 1st Jeep yesterday. Was going to upgrade the stereo unit but am wondering about the security factor?

Security is always an issue and as soon as you install a deck that does not look like stock you become a target. Most of this is dependent on where you live and work of course.

But it is possible to keep the stock deck and still build a killer system if you want to take the time and money to do it. It really depends on what you are starting with and what you see your budget being.

Just remove the detachable face that is common to most models now and lock it up in a security glove box or security center console from
When you have a choice, buy American.

One thing to keep in mind, anyone that says they can lock a Jeep is wrong.
This includes a hard top, back window comes off with 4 screws that are accessible from outside.
Now what is the likely hood that someone is going to swipe your deck?
I'd say just about the same as in a normal car.
A pro will have the tools and the know how to get what they want.
You don't have to stay stock but I wouldn't go wild either.
Any aftermarket deck with decent preamp outs will open a whole new world.
