Stock Deck to 4-channel amp - tune gain to match at highest volume?

Currently, when my stock deck volume it set around 65% max volume, it's my max volume I can tolerate... it's loud. If I go above this, it's way too loud. Question is, is there any issue with reducing my gain, cranking the head unit up to 100%, then turning up the gain to my max listening level?

That’s the exact way to set it. Less gain is always better for an amp.

Thanks for this. I was able to turn my gain all the way down on my front and rear channels.
