Sub Solution for 98TJ

So, I have a new (to me) 98 TJ Sahara. All I have right now is the sound bar speakers and the front speakers and some (to me at least) piece of crap HU. I have no bass whatsoever, but apparently, the previous owner did as there are speaker wires running to the back portion of the tub. I think the owner had removed the back seat and placed a (or some) sub(s) back there.

Here comes the question(s). I don't want to remove my seat, nor do I want to place a sub behind the seat. What are my options in a 98 TJ given the two variables above? Like I said above, I have no bass whatsoever in the Jeep, regardless of how I manipulate the HU.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have two ten inches behind my back seat. They take up all the storage up there tho pretty much.... I'd put like one 12 inch back there if I was buying something... or just build something into the bottom of the rear seat...

Putting in that back storage area is nice tho because the bass is so clean bouncing off the metal gate.

it is a very fun project. you could do 3 8" subs , 2 10" subs , or 1 12" sub in the box inside the seat. look into it dude
the only problem it that it requires unplugging all the cables if you want to take the seat out, increases the seat weight by about 50 pds, and make sitting on the back seat a tad more uncomfortable.

Imma prob. do this... That way I get my rear storage back... It won't sound quite as good, but def worth it imo...

I'd Prob. do 2 10's again or just a 12...

nice!
it takes shallow mount subs (i.e those with less than 3.5" of mounting depth)
memphis makes some really nice shallow mount 10's, thats what i have.
here is a write up someone did, very informative if you have not already made plans

I saw this on crutchfield.com youd have to search for it i would but im about to go to bed...finally at 4:30 in the morning anyways it was a complete set up by jl its a custom center console. It has one 12" sub built into the bottom of the sub and it has an amp built into it you would take the lid off your current center console and bolt it to this one. The centerconsole and everything else is all by jl audio it even has 2 cup holders for the front passengers. But it is jl so it is pricey at 900 bucks im planning on purchasing this in a few weeks myself.

Saw that but it won't fit a 98...it's for 93-95 (or something like that).
