Tweeters won't fit!

I bought a set of Alpine SPR-60C's to replace the front speakers and tweeters. Wow, the dash is a PITA to deal with! Anyway, I've got the 6.5s installed, and they sound great.

HOWEVER, stupid me, I never even checked to see if the tweeters would fit into the holders on top of the dash. When I picked out the speakers, I went onto crutchfield's website to check to see if they work with the '12 Wranglers and it said they do.

So here's my question, how do I get the tweeters to fit where the stock tweeters were? They are bigger than the stocks, and I can't figure out how to get them into the little tweeter docks that are on top of the dash. So frustrated.

Anyone know the solution to this?

While I am not familiar with that speaker set, I know from reading on here that most people had to file the stock openings a bit to make aftermarket tweeters fit in the stock "tombstones."

I will be doing the same thing soon, but have not picked out my components yet. I just replaced the sound bar speakers with the Kicker 77kick10s for simplicity.

What amp are you using to power things?

Haven't picked out an amp yet. Doing this in stages. Head unit and amp are my next steps. I'll probably have them professionally installed.

Did you consider mounting them in the most acoustically correct location, at the lower door pin?

I briefly thought about that, but then I'd have a couple of tombstones sitting on my dash with useless tweeters sitting in them. Also, I'm doing everything I can to make my upgrades look stock so as to not draw attention to them. I intend on keeping the top/doors off most of the summer, so I don't want my audio to look flashy or upgraded at all.

I think the solution is going to entail cutting a bigger hole into the tombstones and gluing the new tweeters in. Not thrilled about it, but I think that's the best I'm going to be able to do.
