Un-computerizing

Hi, all!

Question:

I have serious blind spot troubles, and a 2010 grand... Nice jeep, but I can't see out the back of it! It has a back up beeper, but that, to my thought, is just not as good as actually seeing!

Crazy idea I had... To cut off the top. 🙂

Of course, there's a lot of wiring and such there, and I know the jeep won't work right without it. Is it possible to 'un-computerize' a vehicle?

I don't care about all the extra, modern functions -- if I could make it just-plain-run, like an old fashioned jeep, I'd do that, and love it!

Of course, I know this sounds kooky; but if it would work... (and hopefully not break the wells fargo!

Any advice would be so appreciated!

🙂

There a lot of non wranglers with the tops cut off. The problem inst your computer. You can move any of the wiring that goes to the back and most runs along the floor anyway. Your jeep is a unibody vehicle and when you cut the top off you'll need to add structural members back to make up for the loss of the top.

What he said.

The Grand Cherokee is Unibody, the Wrangler is Body on Frame.

Huge difference in structure. If you cut off the top, you better be able to install something like a full roll cage. This, it done right, will strengthen the body.

Thanks!

Any advice as to what such a structural addition might look like? 🙂 🙂

and another thought, there are plenty of old grand wagoneers and old CJ's out there. Just get one of them and go from there

jhmace- Truthfully, I originally was going to do just that. A jeep in the driveway is worth two in the bush, but not when there's this much to do to it!
🙂
Anyone wanna trade? 😉
