Unloaded (no speakers) Soundbar

Does anyone out there know if there is a soundbar available without speakers. I would much rather work with a pre-engineered housing and install my own speakers than have to go to the trouble of building a soundbar from scratch.

Check eBay. They usually have stuff like that.

i was just taking a look on quadratec and can not believe hoe much they charge for the loaded speaker bars, i wouldn't pay half that amount for what they give you. the speakers that come in them are just as bad if not worse than the factory speakers.

FYI, never go by the peek power rating of a speaker, the rms power rating is the number you look at.

That's why I'm looking for unloaded - I hate to pay for that paper cone crap that that comes installed.

Along with the RMS power handling capacity you also need to consider efficiency when mating speakers with amps

I've checked ebay several times and haven't found anything unloaded. Maybe I'm using the wrong term in my search. I'm looking for "unloaded" soundbars. Do you know of another descriptor I could use with more success?
thanks

other than the power rating, the ohms and the sensitivity are also a big part in your speakers. the the amp needs to be able to support the level of resistance of the speakers. if the ohms are less than what the amp can support you are going to have problems.

does it have to be a full bar? they do make the empty pods that, from what i have heard, they keep the speakers in more of a sealed enclosure, it will also have a deeper amount of bass over the hallow bar.

My main reason for wanting a bar is so I can mount the little control panel for a Secret Audio system in the center of the bar in place of the dome light that they all seem to have. This way I don't have to cut the dash. It also lessens the likelihood of a casual observer trying to snatch the stereo

the only other thing is to build your own. it really isnt hard to build a soundbar. a sheet of 1/2" MDF and an hour of time is all it takes to make one. that way you can use what ever size speakers you want, and how many you want.

does your rollbar have the holes pre-drilled and taped for a factory soundbar?

Haven't looked under the padding yet but I assume the holes are there. The bar appears to be original to the jeep.

I have all the skills and tools necessary to build a bar (40 years in the custom homebuilding industry) but am just trying to avoid building one if there is a molded bar available for cheap
