Barricade Roof Rack for Jeep LJ

I have to say I was a little apprehensive about buying this rack because of all the negative articles but after a buddy of mine bought it and never opened the box (sold his jeep) I bought it off him and used the day off to install it. Quality is not bad. Did come with a little scuff marks but nothing I couldn't fix (keep in mind this kit was never opened from original packaging so it was brand new). The hardware supplied was AWESOME. Came with many extras and different bolts for if you had an aftermarket bumper or not. Now to the not so great... the instructions were a little less than stellar but it isn't the most complicated thing to figure out. The rear points where it connects to the bumper bolts is just plain wrong. I know this is a very common issue with this product but I had hoped they would have fixed their manufacturing (they did not). The holes are way too spaced apart for the actual bolts. I had to drill those out at an angle (long and difficult to do). I also noticed that the kit included two right side upper rear pieces so the holes for bolting the left side in had to be redrilled as well. I absolutely loved that the kit comes with foam padding to put between the contact point on the body. That way you don't have to worry about rust, however it only came with 6 pads (standard for tj) when the lj kit needed 8. I also noticed the rack is pretty low and tight to the top. Meaning that when I drive the soft top constantly smacks the upper cross members and makes a very loud annoying sound constantly. I drive this daily so it is going to get old fast, I also noticed it is EXTREMELY loud when driving over 35 mph. Like idk what part of it howls but it sounds like I have a huge turbine off the back of my rig. I hope there is something to fix that. It is a very sturdy and good looking rig and with a little time it goes together great but I'm a little disappointed with the little issues that can be easy to fix and the fact it slaps my soft top and howls like a jet. Here are some pictures

The crossmembers seem to be non uniform as well. Two are straight, one is bowed down and one is bowed up. Overall it's not a bad rack for the price but be prepared to do some fab work and then repainting. I'm going to reach out to XT and see if there is anything they can do about the bowed. Crossmembers as those are really the only thing that needs immediate action. Here are the different bowed cross members
