Quadratec Emergency Top JKU

Hi All,

Just a quick review of the Qudratec emergency top for 4 door JK.

I purchased the top for my JKU with a factory hard top (no softop hardware, door surrounds, etc).

The top is very easy to place over the vehicle with two people (each person taking a side and walking it over. You can get the top over your jeep and cinch down the key straps in less than a minute. So for quick protection in a down pour, that's a good thing.

Getting it totally cinched down for driving purposes takes a bit more effort. The emergency top has velcro reach arounds for the seat belt bar between the two doors. I found the instructions on proper use of that part vague. It was difficult to cinch it around the the bar with the back door open, so I ended up going through the rear window and open front door. The front door could close on the fabric. Also, it would be very difficult to get the fabric over the top of the front doors from inside the vehicles (as needed to protect you from rain dripping in from above), and its impossible to open the doors without ruining the protection once you do get them over...which for me meant getting it in place then entering the jeep through the window like a nascar driver.

Once it was installed, however, the fit and coverage were good. I took it for a test drive around the block, and hit it with some good accelerations and decelerations, it stayed in place and didn't flap terribly.

Finally, to secure the top you will need to hook the front straps around your door hinge. I suggest dipping the hooks (which are metal) in a "rubberizer" to help guard against scratching your paint, both when they're installed and when they'r being dragged over your vehicle.

Thank you for the great review! I will pass the recommendation on dipping the hooks to our product design team.

Have a great day!

Missing Top offering

I have been looking for a top to cover this use case and I cannot find it. The use case is for Jeepers who prefer doors off + top off driving as much as possible. So the issue is being caught in the rain. There are neoprene seat covers for the seats and rear cargo covers for that area but there isn't a top that can be stored and then only thrown up quickly when needed like in a rain storm. I am thinking this should be easy bc it would like the mesh tops with the bungee balls except that they would need to be a little bigger and not so much of a gap like the mesh tops do and maybe use bungee balls & grommets with some sort of cinching mechanism to keep the top fastened on the road when driving. I don't think this needs to keep out 100% of the rain but it should help with some of the rain in the cabin area.

So with all your doors off you'll have an extra pro and and extra con with this top.

Pro, it will be really easy to get the wrap arounds on the seatbelt post, and you'll be drive ready quicker than I can be.

Con, with no front doors you're gonna catch some spray in the rain for sure.
