QUADRATEC...Fool me once.

I give up. I know a lot of people on here are fine with them and give favorable reviews but I just can't do it anymore. All sorts of issues with them last year:

https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/bi...l#post17244090

Didn't heed my own advice and tried one last time to give them my business. In this day and age is it really a feasible business model that the only way you know an item you purchase is in stock is if you actually call and order over the phone?!

Got a bunch of Q-Tec gift cards for Christmas. Sweet. Get home last night (Christmas) and order my Quadratec Stealth headlights. Pay extra to have them express shipped for this coming weekend. All sorts of pumped. No mention on the website of THEIR own product being out of stock. Get an email just now that the item I purchased is out of stock and won't be in stock until FEBRUARY 23?!?

Unfortunately due to gift cards have to give them this last business but that's it. I'm sure they're profitable but I'm also sure there's a better model as a company. I'm not one to rant but felt it necessary so others are at least aware.

Not to defend them at all, but I think many of the vendors have been having issues keeping headlights in stock. They seem to be the popular mod this season. I know my JW Speakers were backordered for a few weeks. Good luck.

I hear you and zero issue with them being out of stock. Just don't accept as a consumer that I am not aware of this PRIOR to purchasing.

I have no issue with Quadretec specifically, but I'll agree with you that real time inventory shouldn't be a major issue anymore. In fact, I rarely buy from an online vendor anymore that doesn't have real time inventory.

Back orders happen with almost every business but the customer needs to know at the time of order if the product is going to ship as expected or not. Sorry. I know that is frustrating!

They send you an E-mail immediately that tells you if an item is in stock or not. If it's out of stock and you are not happy cancel the order! I once waited about 5 days for a trailer hitch that was not in stock that was an equivalent to an OEM hitch but at a much reduced price. I was okay with that.

It is my understanding that they drop ship some items from manufacturers too. Please correct me if I'm wrong but im okay with that. Inventory is expensive and would raise prices.

I've had similar issues its 4 Wheel Parts: they show items on their website, only to find out talking to a customer rep that it'll take them weeks to get it.

I don't think it is a specific Quadratec issue, it is a more general "online shopping experience" issue.

I agree with you. Every time I deal with quadratech I have this issue, and what's worse is I do call to place orders, and still don't get informed when something isn't in stock. It seems to be every time I order something that is their branded product that is what is backordered. Hell it took me like 3 months to get the rear cargo mat with their name on it...

I have no complaints with Quadratec, whenever I received a quote from Rick he told me the item was on back-order if it was OOS and when they expect another order. Even when I called one of their staff would let me know if the item was OOS and when they are expecting a new shipment.
I have been very happy dealing with Quadratec, with their price matching and forum discounts I have saved over $1,350 dollars total building my dream Jeep. I have no problem waiting an extra 2-4 weeks for a part(s) to be shipped when you're getting it for the lowest price anywhere on the web. OOS and back-orders are part of the deal when ordering online for good prices. Call them next time and ask if the part is available, or when you get a quote from Rick he will tell you in the PM with the quote when it will be back in stock.

Things take time. I ordered an ACE slant back carrier over a month ago and still haven't gotten it. I also know from past experience that a lot of companies like ACE manufacturer on a need basis to keep overhead down. It's that kind of work practice that keeps us, the consumer, paying cheaper prices online. Quadratec has always sent me an email in regards to every order and any questions or updates I've called up on they've been dead on. I know it sucks waiting but we aren't kids the night before Christmas looking up the chimney. Good things take time. If you stand the wait, move onto something else for the time being. Jeeps are like houses. They're very expensive and there's always something that needs updating.

When things are in stock, they ship very quickly. So far I've been lucky and haven't had many things get backordered.
The addition of "usually ships in X time" or just "In Stock/Backordered" based on real order/inventory data would be a nice improvement to the site - even if the data only got updated once at the end of the day.
Sucks to be able to get stoked and pay extra for expedited shipping on something that isn't in stock and likely hasn't been for a while.

Quadratec sent me an email saying the same thing when I ordered my stealth led's a week or two ago... They arrived on my porch 3 days later. But I agree, they should list their inventory on their site.

I chatted online with them to cancel an order of a hitch receiver and wiring harness earlier this year, they upgraded me to the next higher priced one and shipped it overnight for free.

But I agree that their online site should be integrated with their inventory system to cut out the confusion and inconvenience of finding out after the fact that things aren't in stock and won't be for several more weeks.

I have no problems with quadratec, like another poster said, every time I pm Rick he let's me know if an item is out of stock.

That being said, I've paid more and ordered through Amazon a couple times to get things quickly. In order to keep up with the rest of the world and their competition, they need to integrate their inventory system and web site.

If they have a modern inventory system that they keep correct, it's easy and shouldn't cost them more than like $8k. Heck, with as often as I like to use their site, I'd volunteer to do it for them for cheap in my spare time.

But if they have some legacy inventory system, wrought with usability issues anyway, it could get really expensive for them to do this. And the costs would have to be passed onto us.

Always go though Rick on the forums here. He will provide you everything you need.

He will fix anything that 'is not right'.

For me, Q-Tech is a local business (I live 10m away from their main office), so I just drive over and pick it up. If it is in their Lancaster warehouse (larger items), I receive it in 1-2 days.

I agree though, the website should more interactive with their inventory.

Due to the pressure of competition, it has become normal for "local" auto accessory places (4x4, performance, etc) to offer just about everything made, even though its impossible for any of them to stock it all. I mean, they just would not turn over that immense inventory to justify the carrying costs.

So, they stock what does sell regularly, and have arrangements with manufacturers/distributors to get the rest as needed (typically under some direct drop-ship arrangement). True, such arrangements occasionally falter or stumble for one reason or another.

That's simply the way business is done today. I just don't grasp why anyone would be surprised about such.

I find Quadratec is always a honest and reliable "local" store, and earned my business because of such.

In this day and age the site should say "out of stock" so you don't waste your time. What a bummer man. Honestly, if I order something I don't want an email "later" telling me it's OOS, it should say on the damn website it's OOS. All these companies are trying to get by on the cheap and forcing the consumer to take the hit because they are too cheap to do it right !

A lot of people don't understand the aftermarket parts industry all that well. None of the vendors have "everything" in stock. They stock "A" items, or items that must be purchased in quantity (like the Quadratec headlights), but much of the catalog is direct shipped from the manufacturers. It's just the way it is and they all do it.

All of my experience with Quadratec has been great.

Why don't you pm Rick. Maybe he can work something out. At the very least you should change your shipping option. Looks like express shipping won't do you much good at this point.
FWIW I always call when I need something fast.
I do agree that their website could be better

get over it. there are a lot off worse things that can happen over the Christmas break. If getting a next day notification that your extra special headlights were going to backordered is the worst thing for you to complain about then you are doing fairly well.

Seriously guy? If you take the time telling people to "get over it" maybe you need to down shift bro. I simply made a post so people are aware of what to expect when purchasing. You're funny.

Just make a phone call prior to hitting submit on your internet. Real simple. It takes a phone call. Don't slam a good company on a forum board because you didn't get what you wanted when you wanted - life doesn't always work like that. Most people here already know that Quadratec doesn't have up to date inventory information online - threads like this have been addressed several times.

Now if you were talking about someone taking your money and NEVER shipping your product and you got scammed - that is an entirely different story and something that should be addressed as being informative to others.

This thread is just a reminder about how many people have complained about Fed Ex and their shipping issues at Christmas. These people had all year to shop but decided to wait until the very last minute and then expect everyone to just drop everything and cater to them. smh

I seriously don't get some of these posts? SMH. I very much like Quadratec as evidenced by my numerous purchases and attempts to give them my business. Love getting there catalogs and literally have there stickers magnets all over my house . BUT you can't be blindly loyal IMO. If there's an issue there's an issue. Sorry just don't think it's such a crazy request that they specify if an item is out of sock prior to purchasing.

Seriously! Quit crying. Wait for your order and have them take the money off for the express shipping or cancel it if you really don't want to do business with Quadratic. If you have gift cards you can probably post them for sale on here and find many buyers willing to take them for slightly lower than face value.

Please post your experiences they are important to us all but don't scream that the sky is falling because a Jeep part is out of stock during the busiest time of the year!

My suggestion would be to call Quadratec or PM Rick when he gets back from his vacation.

Seriously!

I completely understand, and know damn well that most parts are not physically stocked by an aftermarket seller, and I understand stuff sells out. That's all too easy, BUT if I call in to place an order I should be told if the part is not in stock. I have only ordered from them twice this year, and both times a product branded under their name was out of stock/backordered, and I was not informed while on the phone. It's just simple courtesy. They will by all means kiss your a$$ to make something better, but that's no different than asking for forgiveness rather than permission.

Like many others here have mentioned every time I placed an order thru a PM with Rick on a price quote or over the phone I was immediately told if the item was OOS and when I can expect shipment. Many the person you spoke with didn't notice it was OOS until you hung up. PM Rick in the future and he will give you a cheaper then advertised price and let you know if it's in stock. I just received a quote from Rick, I'll be saving $40 bucks for 2 items, I have no problem waiting 1-3 weeks for the part that is OOS.
