Why Fedex smart post??

I placed an order almost two weeks ago. I got a confirmation e-mail on the 15th then one item was back ordered. Murphy's law applies and this was the item I needed most.
I was ok with this, stuff happens and things get delayed. The part that burns me is when the part did come in I was sent an e-mail that it was being shipped. This was on the 26th. Now we are at the 28th and tracking shows that it has made it to the post office but may be 1-2 days more before delivery.
I am 20 minutes from your West Chester location why does it need to take so long for shipping?? The first part of the order was sent Fedex ground and was here quickly.
I know its cheaper but when something has already been delayed, a few more days is a problem.
Who ever thought it was a good idea to Fedex something to the post office? Just hand it to the mail carrier that delivers your mail.
The time from ordering until delivery is a major factor in my decision on how to order.
I have always been happy with Quadratec and will still order from you. I just wanted to let you know my opinion on the choice of shipping used.

Hey there,

I'm sorry to see that you are unhappy with the shipping on part of your order. FedEx Smart Post is used for Free Standard Shipping. UPS has a nearly identical service called Sure Post. Most online sellers use these methods for their free shipping. With us, if you select Free Standard Shipping and a package is 12lbs or more it should auto-sub over to FedEx Ground at no charge, though this is not always guaranteed. To make sure an order ships via FedEx Ground it must be ordered as such.

Forum members receive free FedEx Ground. To place an order this way just PM me your first & last name, address, zip and the part numbers you would like to order. I then put a quote in the system with free Ground (as long as it's not a part that ships Truck Freight) and provide you with details on how to finalize the order. This will avoid any future Smart Post shipments.

Thanks & have a great day!

-Rick

I just placed an order and chose the free shipping, received my tracking info for smartpost, fml. You should clearly state that your free shipping is smartpost, this would save customers the headache and would probably prefer pay for standard ground shipping.

Nothing like waiting 2-3 weeks for an order that you anticipate would take no longer than a week.

In comparison I placed a sizable order with Northridge4x4 as well, over 800lbs of parts and they are shipping UPS ground for free. I'll have those parts in 2 day, faster than expected.

Forum users receive free Ground shipping. Smart Post, per FedEx, is 2-7 business days anywhere in the Lower 48.

With that said, today (July 15th) ONLY, for everyone in the Lower 48:

I will chime in and say that Fedex is supposed to be better than USPS, which is pretty bad. It's sadly not looking that way. Ordered 2 things last Wednesday night, new hood latches and a set of floor mats. Floor mats showed up yesterday but the hood latches are still a no show. Expected delivery stated it would be today 7/22. Well upon looking thats wrong and now says Friday the 24th. Yes, anyone can make the expected day if its changed.

The part that confuses me is that it was somewhere about 15 minutes south from me. Then got on the truck and decided to go north, past my house, and now about 45 minutes north of me. doesn't make sense.

On a different note, when ordering I did not see an option to change shipping options. Could have been me being tired and over looking it, maybe the bourbon, maybe it wasn't there.

Delivered today

Ordered on the 12th, shipped on the 14th, delivered on the 23rd.
8 working days, 12 days total. Not the most time efficient system, maybe cost efficent.

With that said take this as constructive feedback and let people know before they hit the submit button, that the free ship option is smartpost so they can make an informed decision based around their needs and have the option to pay for standard ground shipping.

To add onto this, wouldn't USPS better? Why have more people touch the box than needed? For me, Fedex had it then gave it to USPS to deliver.

Amazon still ships free in Alaska. The last order I tried to get from Quadratec was close to $30 for 3 of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...etailpage_o00_

The salesman you told me to deal with wouldn't cut me a break
