Offroad excursion this Saturday

Mother nature has been kind enough to grace us with lots of rain...otherwise known as jeep owner crack.

My people are doing a upper Sycamore creek run this Saturday. I ran it for the jeep jam last month. It's a really cool trail, no crazy chit. Several water crossings and tight turns thru trees and bushes. There is one funky off camber part that will twist the jeep up. Stock jeeps ran it when I did so that should indicate the difficulty.

However, we all know how drastically a trail can change with rain and erosion. Consider that in your executive decision to go.

We are meeting at the chevron on hwy 87 across from the casino at 9am. Feel like getting dirty, possibly stuck and some pretty desert pinstripes? Then grace us with your presence.

Pressurized and mimillerus like this.

Been talking with my people (who may be talking to your people) and heard about this run a few weeks back.
Looking forward to meeting up again!

I absolutely hate mud lol. I was going to do Highway to Hell today but we cancelled - both for the mud factor and FlorenceFest (aka hundreds of Jeeps out wandering Florence).

Run was the 23.

We had 4 jeeps. Weather was great, trail is beautiful. Expected more mud and water. Trail was different from a month ago. After sinking the left side of the jeep, I remembered the lead said don't drive thru that, it is really deep. Removed drain plugs, all happy again. Further up, time for an executive decision. Lead said there is a technical area, but we took the bypass for jeep jamboree. We decided to try it. Bad idea. Per one of our drivers, it's called rocker pass or something like that. First obstacle was a hard right that has a steep incline with large boulder to the right and steep wall on the left. There is no pretty way to go over it. Every passenger side front wheel went off the ground 3-4 feet, then jeep dropped onto the passenger rocker. Yea. Next obstacle was a z shaped steep climb over large rocks. Made it thru most of it until the end. Wheel off the ground, wheels buried into sand resting on frame. It wasn't pretty. Used a tree saver and winch to hook onto boulder the size of a 2 door jeep. WRONG! Moved said boulder about 10'. Another group of jeeps were coming down the other way. Lead driver wedged his jeep against said boulder and I winched myself out. My other jeep peeps turned around. 2 went home, other one met me further up where the 2 trails converge. No, I will not try that again. Bypass is my friend.

Carnage:
My jeep: usual scrapes and dents in skid plates. Hurt feelings
Jeep 2: ripped off passenger side step after pushing into body of said jeep.
Jeep 3: air leak somewhere for lockers. Lockers no go
Jeep 4: none that I know of.

Another PSA trip for my fellow jeepers of what not to do. I'm down to run this again. Pics for your viewing pleasure

Sounds like a fun run. I am not overly familiar with that area (too many tweakers tend to inhabit Sycamore), only been there a few times. That may be the area called "Rocker Panel Pass". For now what you know are obvious reasons lol.

Yup! Sycamore has turned into a $hit hole. I've seen jeeps get hit out there from people shooting without a backstop......Then there are all the RV's that seem like they are from an episode of Breaking Bad.

Interesting. I've been out there several times without any issues. Everyone played nice the excursions I was out there.

Watch for the big hub bub after the Crhistmas tree burning this year. Last year they left literal mountains of trash folks had to go clean up, left burning unattended fires, and yes folks were shooting and I do believe at least some vehicles/people got hit iirc. And on any given weekend, just driving in you can start to smell the marijuana....

Ha! Good video. At 6:50, see where I sank the jeep. Water is above the rear bumper. Bumper height is 33". Water was about about 3' deep, which doesn't sound that deep. Without doors changes that perspective when you take water on. Oops. More training, what not to do

Feel free to delete the last 5 minutes. I'm pretending that never happened

My channel on YouTube is 2fuzzies. That is where I upload all of my jeep porn. No fancy music or graphics or talking. I upload as is.
