I was told a couple of runs including Onyx are closed due to the fire. There was a lot of smoke in the Big Bear valley in the AM but the breeze shifted and it cleared late morning.
We ran Jon Bull today. We have a 4" lift, 35" tires and Rock Hard sliders, made it with minor damage including a front sway bar link, cross member, oil pan, exhaust tip and a rear lower shock mount. The sliders supported me several times, but still look great. Some others didn't do so well and most were running 37s. I would say front and rear lockers are a must. A good spotter and slow going contributed to our success.
Glad I did it but this was the most technical run I have ever done. I would compare it to the Rocky Gap wash (not bypass) in 10 separate sections. A strong 5 on the Mitchell Scale.
Running Gold Mountain tomorrow.
