Cutting fender flares

I'm contemplating cutting my stock fender flares, I like the looks when done right, and the fact that it doesn't involve taking off perfectly good parts and spending a lot of money to replace them.

Only thing is, I don't have the nerve to do it myself. Has anyone else here done it- or even better, is there anyone in Vegas that's done it, and would be willing to either help or even do mine for me for a fee?

I have done it before, and live in Vegas. It looks great, when I traded my 2012 for the 2014 the dealership thought they were after market, so I got some extra money for them. I also know how to add some simple LED turn signals and screw them under the flares for a nice look.

Thanks for the response. I've seen several different mods/pics, with a variety of widths cut. I have the stock "17 Rubicon rims with "33 med terrain tires. I'd definitely be interested in talking to you about it if you're game.

Sure thing. I had the 33x12.5x15 on my 2012. The fenders were getting tore up from the tires so had to cut them.

Wilson is good but don't tell him I said so.
I think about cutting mine from time to time but am still rocking factory. I instead went with the OME HD lift and a 1" body lift.

I cut all mine on a 2008 with 35's. Looks much better! I live in the SW so let me know if you want to do it and I can point you in the right direction.

Last Sunday when changing the jeeps oil I saw the passenger fender nearly off so I removed it. I need to pick up some clips for it now or...maybe go fender less. Lol. I am starting to really dig not having it on.

I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my front bumper first, either stubby mod, or replace it- once I do, I'd definitely appreciate the help from Wilson or LVRaptor- thanks so much to everyone for reaching out too!

Coming in late but IMO cutting the fenders saves you enough $$$ so that you are able to purchase a front bumper that tickles your fancy. Cutting your fenders can save you anywhere from hundreds or thousand's depending on what you want.
Mine was the smitty mod bumper. Because of the modular add on's and I wanted a winch & extra mounting spots for led's and all that jazz.

Cutting the fenders is also great for off roading because if they make contact to rocks & ect. When they make contact they normally pop off or just bend unlike most of the the bolt on fenders that will take damage and possibly damage your frame.

What LvRaptor and I did was purchase some blue painters tape covered the fender. Then all I did was take a razor blade and cut out the design that I wanted to use. Once you have a template just flip it over and use it for the other side. A Dremel with a good blade does a great job. Then you just sand and place door jam trim over your cuts.

Just think you could be another person with fenders that nobody else has lol best of luck. Maybe we can find a time to help ya out.
Best of luck

Yours look great Rabbit- I'm definitely contemplating doing it, and like you said, using the $$$ I save to look at a new front bumper. I'm just a little gun-shy of doing it for fear of F%$!ing one or all of them up. I'd definitely be grateful and game if you and or Raptor had some time and were game. Lunch is on me if we do it!

always up for helping out and the best part, I have all my original fenders still since I went with the smitybilt fenders on my rig. Biggest problem is time lol. When you are ready to cut we will figure out the best date to get it done.

Just let me know guys- I coach my son's baseball team, but can definitely be flexible if a time works better for you. Sundays, I'm usually wide open.

Also- I'd like to start thinking about replacing my stock front bumper. My son likes the ones with the stingers; anyone have any suggestions?

Thinking about getting this leveling kit- not looking for a big lift or to do tires and rims now- just would level off the stance- let me know what you guys think:

http://www.extremeterrain.com/terafl...-1155200.html?

I'd like to get a new front bumper, and try to do these two things and the fender cuts- I'm only comfortable with trying to install the bumper though- so I would definitely appreciate any help that you guys would be willing to provide with any/all of it. Dinner is on me for sure!

We did put rabbits lift on his rig so I am betting its easier to do the leveling kit but I don't think we would have the time to do both leveling kit and fender cut in 1 day.

Wishful thinking on my part- but no real rush. Do you have any thoughts on the leveling kit vs. a full lift? Just seems like a smaller bump up, without all the other considerations of a full lift.

Just waiting on the side markers to arrive from eBay-

Just put this kit on my Jeep a couple weeks ago, it's a breeze to put on. We also did it one corner at a time instead the entire front at once and then the rear. I really like the new look and rides smoother as well. It says this kit will be good to run 33's, I'm looking to run 35's at some point in time so I'll either have to get a new lift or get a 1" body lift.

Thanks for the info Wilson- I think I'm going to go ahead and buy it, but don't know how comfortable I am spin it on my own. I seem to always start projects only to realize I don't have the right tools. : /

Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for- as I'll be running the stock Rubicon "33's for the foreseeable future.

Thanks so much for offering to help Dave- I really appreciate how supportive and engaging everyone has been since I bought my Jeep.

What do you think of the leveling kit I mentioned in the previous post? Any suggestions or other options you think I should consider? I really just want to get rid of the factory rake, and not looking for a significant lift/expense, or the need to think about hearing or other significant mods as a result of the lift.

Thanks again to everyone here- I think these few modifications will definitely be great for the Jeep!

One last thing- I'm still looking at front bumpers- my son really likes the way the stingers look- any suggestions?

As far as bumpers go it's all personal and depends on what you want to use it for. Don't rush there are plenty of options out there

Forgot to mention that Teraflex has great install videos. I watched this with the first corner I did and after that the rest was muscle memory.

Looks Good! When I did mine I cut off those side markers and put these nice little LED lights, they are pretty bright, I could see them going off as I switch lanes on the highway.
