Just Moved to Vegas

Hello,

Just like above, I just moved to Vegas on the 6th of August. So far really liking it here, but am just really unfamiliar with the area. If you've seen me around and I didn't wave or acknowledge you. I apologize. I was probably trying to figure out where I was going! hehe

Are there any resources for wheeling in Vegas or surrounding areas? Thoughts?

Thanks,

Michael

Welcome. Besides the local clubs, this is a good place for reference:

I too am new here and you won't find much on this board or any other board about NV wheeling. Don't know what is up with that. As Tophog stated, local clubs are the way to find your way around this place. Looks like some epic trails locally and now that the weather has cooled, its time to wheel. Google vegas jeep clubs see ya out there.

Oh yeah... find Outdoor Nevada on PBS and set your DVR. We intend to check out a lot of those places the show presents. At least the ones that are close, hr or two away.

Google hump n bump. Its an annual jeep event here. It may be full to wheel any of the runs but should still be a good place to come, meet wheelers, and see what is in the local area.

Desert Wranglers is a club sponsored by Chapman Chrysler Jeep and has several runs per month for beginners to experienced drivers. Check them out. Nevada Backroaders is another club that focuses more on scenic runs. There is a monthly club run to Gold Butte, near Mesquite, on Sunday, Sept 24th. Details are at Nevada Backroaders.

Thanks for that info. Like the rock crawling but also really like just getting out there and seeing stuff. Our last run with another group the dude blew by all the mines and structures so now I've gotta go back and check all these things out. LOL.

There's a poker run in Beatty on Oct. 14, details here:

https://www.beattyvfw.com/event/2017...rog-poker-run/

I'll be there, along with some other folks from Pahrump. We went 2 years ago. Had a great time and met some cool people.

Beatty is full of trails to old abandoned mines. It was a large mining district in its heyday.

Hello,

Thanks for the replies.. For some reason I did not get emailed these replies.

I appreciate the links. I will see if I can make it to the poker run.. Is it over all pretty gnarly? Not really into the whole rolling over thing.. LOL This is my daily driver after all, but I do work from home.

It's not gnarly or dangerous. All on trails and creek beds formerly used for mining. Stock 4x4s are fine.

It's a poker run, not a race. You can drive at your own pace and take in some local history and scenery.

We'll probably be in this:

That's a pic of the bank ruins in the ghost town of Rhyolite, just outside of Beatty.

Nice, I may see if I can come out and make it.

This is my rig. Worked very well in the Pacific Northwest. Haven't done anything out here, but I am sure it will do fine.

I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to say welcome to Vegas.

I'm down with some wheeling, nothing to crazy since I usually have the family along. I'm always down for a run though.

I have been up Alamo road all the way to Highway 93 including going through the dry lae bed. Been up to the Gass Peak (just up Mormon Wells Road, then right) pull off where the family and I usually have a picnic and let the kids shoot their bow/arrow. Also ran around Apex a little bit and two of the trails east of sunrise mountain.

I've been wanting to run wheeler's pass and anything else that has sights to see. If any of you are interested in having a tag-a-long and/or meet up and have a run, let me know.

There are several Jeep focused offroad clubs in the Vegas area.

Desert Wranglers and Nevada Backroaders are great clubs for beginners and do many scenic and easy runs.

Other clubs like Vegas Valley 4 Wheelers, Jeepers Creepers, Silver State Wranglers, and Wild West Jeeps offer everything from easy/scenic runs to more hard core rockcrawling trips.

There is a monthly meetup of local clubs called Crawlers and Coffee, next meetup is Sept 29th from 8am - 10am at Wild West Guns. Here is a video from last month's meetup.

Looks like we can't make it. Conflicting schedule.
