You are invited along with us on one of the most difficult 4x4 trails in Death Valley National Park. We will meet at the Smith's grocery store parking lot one block north of the intersection of highway 160 and highway 372 in the heart of beautiful downtown Pahrump on Saturday, April 11. Plan to meet up around 7:45 for an 8:00AM sharp departure.
This trip includes a stop at Zabriskie Point...
Our dirt portion of the trip (about 60 miles from Pahrump) will take us up the easy, winding, and scenic Echo Canyon road to the Inyo Mine. There are numerous mine ruins to explore at the abandoned mine site and any high clearance vehicle should have no trouble to this point of the trip.
If you just want an easy scenic trip, you can return to the highway from here on your own.
From the Inyo Mine the trail dives further into and over the Funeral Mountains. You must get up a dry waterfall...
The waterfall is the difficult obstacle on the trip and can be done with open differentials and 33" tires. (OK... I haven't done it myself, but I've seen a TJ do it)
Beyond the waterfall, the trail runs down a rocky canyon to the old Lee's Camp townsite on it's way to Amargosa Valley and pavement.
Pack your lunch and camera!
You are subject to the park entrance fee of $20 unless you have a season or senior pass.
