One thing I always wonder with these setups is how strong is the latch for the tailgate. Because isn't that the only thing holding it closed? Imagine going up a steep hill and the whole thing flies open

I don't know of any of our latches on the Destroyer Series Tire Carrier that have failed. The U Bolt style draw latches are a different story, if those get over tensioned they could snap.

Very nice, Ive been looking for a over the spare rack and a good way to mount a hi lift jack...

any chance there is a kit to use this with the Mopar steel bumper?

Question Pre-Purchase Question..

I am looking at the Shorty version for my JK, with that said... what would you say is the stronger version? Tire carrier mounted to the tail gate door or separate?
