Rioting in Baltimore M.D. I dont get it!

So what I dont get is these people are rioting because of what they feel is police brutality. How does burning houses & looting peoples businesses in your own city, help or prove any kind of point other than show the true animals they are??

It does seem assnine. I think they got as far as they did rioting because the police did not show force. If the police would have shot a few of them you would not have what is going on now. Lay out a few and watch the crowds disperse. They are like kids throwing a temper tantrum. Give the kid a good spanking and he will settle down.
What I don't understand is the 10pm curfew. Why let them run around in the dark for a few hours? Why not dusk to dawn? When we have a hurricane here we have a dusk to dawn curfew.
I don't know what the gun laws are there but I am surprised nobody was shot destroying some merchants property.
I have never seen a group of people have so many opportunities yet continue to shoot themselves in the foot.
It is mind blowing, perplexing and just down right unexplainable. I don't get it myself.

It's curious that the race riots are only occurring in the Blue States, the Democrat controlled states, forced unionism states with union racism. Where employment opportunities are low, single parent homes are high and law enforcement is weak. For example, Baltimore has been under Democrat control since 1967.

Watching TV has been painful. My mother's family were Baltimoreans. I was born there and my first born was born there. In the early '60s, I spent my coming of age years there, playing on the Army jeep test hill on Fort Holabird or dodging the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary School.

Under the soot from Sparrows Point, once the largest steel mill in the world, neighboring Dundalk was a gritty, blue collar suburb. Those people worked and played hard catching Blue Crab in the Chesapeake Bay at old Fort Howard and washing them down with ice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon, my first taste of beer. They may have had to live in small row houses but the lines of white marble stoops were kept clean as a matter of pride.

The steel mill jobs went away but we created the current problems in Baltimore and elsewhere mainly by having a national policy incentivizing having children out of wedlock. It made men marginalized. If I was a young black man raised in that environment, I would probably be looting and burning, too. Until we come to our senses and reverse this public policy, we will continue to expand class warfare.

Finally, back in the bad old days here in Texas, there was a saying, "One riot, one Ranger." We've grown too politically correct. But I could be wrong, I often am.

Missouri is a blue state? Weird. That's news to me.

IMO it has more to do with big cities with lots of "urban" youth that aren't raised right. It could just as easily happen in Houston or Dallas.

I don't get it either. The people are complaining that the police are too violent and look at what they are doing. They are NOT protesting in a peaceful manner by any means.

I am going to put this out there knowing damm well I could get flamed for it but I am sick and tired of the "race card". That card is always pulled when it is convenient. If a white officer arrests a black person then it is because of "race". Yet what happens when a black officer arrests a white person? The world doesn't go up in flames!

Race shouldn't even be brought up. Yet it is constantly without any mention of the demographics of that particular area. Go to some of the towns in Texas where the majority of arrests are hispanics - not because of their race but maybe because they are the majority in that particular area so it makes sense that a larger percentage of arrests would be hispanics versus whites?

Flame away but I am just tired of all of this and pretty punchy tonight anyways.

Like these animals rioting over a basketball game?

3/31/2012 Chaos erupted in the streets of Lexington the night the Wildcats beat in-state rival Louisville in the Final Four to advance to the NCAA Men's basketball championship. Thousands of rowdy fans swarmed the streets surrounding campus following the win, leading officers in riot gear to move in as student set couches and cars ablaze, hurling beers cans into large crowds. Reports of cars being flipped were abundant, and around 50 nuisance fires were reported. Approximately 10 arrests were made, and officers used pepper spray to disperse the crowd.

Or these football fans in Ohio?

After Ohio State defeated arch-rival Michigan in football on November 23, 2003, earning the Buckeyes a berth to the National Championship, students responded to the victory by quietly returning to their homes and watching the highlights on SportsCenter. Or that's what police would have wanted. In actuality, fans celebrated the 14-9 win first by rushing the field, then pouring into the streets. Windshields were smashed, cars were rolled over, and fires were started on many a corner. The night in Columbus was especially tragic for local couches, many of which were reduced to ash. In all, a crowd of 5,000 started 107 fires and destroyed 20 cars, leading to 70 arrests.

It's not a race issue, it's a poverty issue and a government issue. We in this country were only ever promised freedom and the right of the pursuit of happiness. When the Great Depression happened and the federal government decided to become the end all and be all of what a person should have, plus a whole lot of programs of good intentions, people became dependent on government. Now people don't have to fend for their own well being, can make bad decisions in life and big government will take of them. The cycle just repeats itself generation after generation. Those who live in urban environment are especially at the mercy of big government. I suggest taking care of your own and the people of local area.

You are correct, Sir. Republicans have carried elections in Missouri, albeit by close margins since 2008. However, Missouri is a forced unionism state.

Okay, but sports riots are different; soccer fans in other countries for example. Normally no looting and burning of stores.

And sports riots in this country mostly seem to occur above the Mason Dixon Line.

It's Natty Bohs, not PBRs, 'hon! Enjoyed reading your post as I still live near Baltimore and travel downtown a bit. I love to see the local residents SCRUBBING their front stoops till it hurts to look at them in the sunlight.

To the OP- bottom line, this is a city like any other. We love our Oh's and our Ravens. We love our local foods crabs and Natty Boh and Polock Johnnys. Our Little Italy is amazing. But we're also graced with our fair share of thugs and crooked politicians like a lot of cities. The causes and cures are a whole other conversation. But this was a riot of opportunity by thugs. There is a lot of good deeds as a result of these riots- but you won't see that on the news outside of this area because it doesn't suit the agenda IMO.
