Hamilton Khaki King that I picked up for a Christmas gift to myself. No real story behind this one, other than its my first automatic and probably my first real watch collectors type watch. It also reminds me of my dad's citizen watch he passed down to me.

Haven’t worn a watch in 18 years. Every where you turn there is a clock or I just look at my phone. IF I were to wear a watch it’d probably be an iWatch.

Watches are about more than telling time to me. I remember the watch my grandfather wore every day. It was nothing "special", just a beat up timex. But he was a hard working man with beat up hands to match who served in the navy and worked in the rubber mills before starting his own typewriter repair business.

I remember that watch being on his wrist every time I saw him though and it seemed so big back when i was a kid.

When he passed, I asked my mom and grandmother to see the watch and it was much smaller than I remembered, but its still an iconic watch to me and my memory.

As men we don't have a lot of jewelry options or ways to really stand apart. We wont be passing down old cell phones or smart watches as heirlooms to our families.

and maybe for me, it hearkens back to a time when men had to be men and a reminder of my grandfather who worked hard and made it from the humble beginnings of immigrant parents.

Just my 2c, nothing ground breaking or anything I'm sure you haven't heard before.

I totally get that. My dad passed away 20 years ago when he was 54. He worked 50+ hours a week making gears for Richmond Gear (back when they still did that in America). He wore an old beat up watch all the time and it disappeared. It was probably thrown out, but I still look for it every time I visit my mom. The only watch I have of his is a gold colored Seiko that was never worn. I have kept it, but it would never mean as much as that old Timex.

figured I would throw in a couple different angles this time around.

Rare sunny day here for an Ohio January so I was feeling like summer.

I'm cheating today because I drove my F250, so I used a picture of a Jeep steering wheel from Google, but today I'm wearing a Bulova Classic Automatic.

I mostly have automatics but if you know the history of the moon watch the wind up went to the moon because autos will not work in weightless conditions.

Further cool is Neal used this watch to time burns when things were going to shit. Everyone should learn about how close landing on the moon was to actually happening. It was close, very close.

This watch was a gift to me from the most special person ever in my life. She bought it for me when I finished up the first year of my masterís degree at Texas A&M with a 4.0 in the summer of 2015. I didnít have any watches with gold on them and the gold Aggie ring is something I was very excited to receive. We both had to make sacrifices for me to go back to school including putting off our wedding. She was proud of me and the sacrifices were supposed to be the ticket to us having an even better life down the road.

We were walking in a crosswalk when she was killed by a guy who was texting and driving in December that year. I was with her and well, Iíll spare all the details but the doctors said she was gone instantly.

She was, is and will always be the love of my life and my motivation to keep getting better. She was my perfect woman, she changed my life for the best and she even loved my JK. I left it home in the garage with the top and doors off one business trip I took, and she drove it for the week (yes she drove a manual). She sent me a text saying she felt like such a badass I wasnít going to get my Jeep back 😊

For a while I wore it every day, but now I wear it sparingly so nothing too bad happens to it. I know itís not the most expensive watch, but itís obviously priceless to me.
Value does not equal money. Keep that forever and never forget her.

very true,
I've been debating on getting some sort of display case for it that will let the light power the eco drive and use it as a desk clock to protect it but always have it close by.

Probably my most practical watch, Citizen eco drive perpetual calendar with a chronograph mode as well. Its a lot of functionality on your wrist! Also there is something cool to me about the eco drive movement. No where the heritage or intricacy of a mechanical watch by any means, but I dunno, it has something special about it.

Model is E820 but from what I've come to understand the panda dial was exclusive to a chain of stores in Europe. I picked it up on eBay for a couple hundred bucks.

It has that Daytona look but its not quite a rep and its also not $18k+

The bracelet was pretty cheap feeling, especially compared to my other citizen bracelets so I put it on a nice leather strap from Bulang and Sons. Their straps are pricey but great, such a soft leather. The most comfortable strap I've even used.
