Weighing the Jeep

Iíve been to the CAT scales near me and itís kind of a pain. Does anyone know of a free scale in the Denver area that is open to the public? I always see the TFL truck guys using on the side of the road but thatís a bit too far...

Check out some of your local Landscape supply yards. They weigh loads all day long. Probably not free, but cheaper than a CAT Scale

FWIW

Just weighed mine with full tank of gas, me, and nothing else inside. Total #5480 front only #2740. I was surprised about how balanced it was.

Just poking the bear... I have a little TJ. Well, it does sit on 35s. All alloy axles, gears, ARBs, engine driven air, and a full welded in cage. But there isn't any back seat.

I put my LJ on a scale at a landscape supply yard in Golden and came in at #4450lbs excluding driver.

Throughout my build, I captured the weight of every significant part added and removed with the following deltas:

Body Armor +165lbs
Skids +139lbs
Front Bumper/winch +84lbs
Rear Bumper/tire carrier +55lbs
Suspension/control arms +47lbs
Wheels/tires +35lbs

for a total of 525lbs of added weight.

I just went to the CAT scale again. I was going to try Pioneer but I wasn’t sure they were certified or not; all they generally need is net change.

Here’s my rig:
2013 JKUS
275/70r18 BFG’s on OEM rims
1.5” spacers
LOD Armor Lite bumper and skid
Warn VR10S winch
Rubicon rails
Barricade sliders
TF 2.5” lift with 3.1 shocks
3/8 tank of fuel

My RV max towing is 5k. The weight without driver was 4,900. I told my wife I have 100 pounds to spend, 150 if I remove the Rubicon rails. She said to not push it too much 🙂

At least I know I can add a set of 35’s when I’m ready.
