New Orleans Wheeling

I didn't want to Zombie an old thread, so I decided to make a new one. Just moved to NOLA in August and got a new Rubicon this month. I'm looking for places to wheel this bad boy in the area. Back in TX, (where my YJ still sits), there were several ORV parks around me that I frequented for rock crawling. I'm not 100% familiar with the terrain around here, but it doesn't look like there will be much rock crawling nearby. Where do people go to wheel? I usually go to ORV parks, but I had friends with land in TX that we would wheel from time to time. Perhaps there are some people here that have the same. I'm not really into mudding. I hate cleaning all that crap off after. More into trail riding and rock crawling. Any help/info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

New Orleans is a city surrounded by swamps and water. There are no large parcels of land public or private to wheel on. There is a piece of land out by Avondale that I think is an ORV park, but it is small and muddy. Never been there. Also there is the spillway which is flat and mud. South Louisiana is no Texas. Jeepers usually go to a place called Sicily Island. Not sure where that is at but is a few hours away. I would think to find some semi hilly trails you would have to go 150 miles north. I am about 90 miles north of N.O. and it is still flat and muddy with no available wheeling land unless you belong to a hunting club that has a lease. Pretty much mud though.

Hey chucky, yes, everything I've heard (from the local Jeep club on Facebook) indicates the same thing. Mostly mud around here. I did find the Sicily Island place and one other. They're pretty far away, but I suppose if you make a camping weekend of it, it won't be too bad. They have videos on their site and it looks like there is plenty of trail riding and lots of rock there. Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll have to make the time sacrifice if I want to do any decent wheeling.

Here are some clubs in the area that are pretty active. And all the ones I'm about to state are all on Facebook.
GEAUX AWOL (Hammond based group) I am a member of this one and love it.
B.R.A.J.A (Baton Rouge Area Jeep Association)
S.L.J.A (South Louisiana Jeep Association) based out of Houma area.
LA 4x4. Not sure if they're on Facebook or where they're based out of.
NOLA 4x4. NOLA based wheeling group.
LA Jeep Freaks. More of a Facebook group but I'm still part of it.

Don't know anymore off top of my head. I'm sure I'm leaving some out but that's all I can think of right now!
