Mt Magazine

The girl and I will be driving up to Mt Magazine in December for a weekend and while I have read that there are lots of great trails there, I haven't been able to figure out WHERE they actually are.

If anyone can offer any insight it would be much appreciated. I'm not looking for anything too wild, just some fun wheeling. It will be my first time out in the Jeep, but I do have a good recovery kit and it's not my first time off road.

There are trails all over Magazine. I have been on basicly all of them. Our ATV club has adopted many of the trails.
The US Forestry can give you maps of some of the trails out there.

Have you done the trip to Mount Magazine yet? I am curious what you found for trails. We go about once a year on the motorcycle or Jeep and I have only seen ORV trails limited to quads and side by side. There is a measurement stated on the sign like 53 inches wide or something like that, I don't remember exactly but my jeep was not allowed. I would really like to know if there are trails that allow jeeps as I love this area and we enjoy staying at the lodge on top of the mountain.

If you ever get to thinking that you're a person of great influence, try ordering someone else's dog around.

I did. The visitors center at the lodge gave me a forest service map but weren't very helpful in telling me which trails were jeep friendly. They told me I could try the one MUT in the park but their boss has taken her ford Escape down it and it didn't fit. Since they didn't rally know WTH they were talking about, I avoided it and played around a little on random forest service roads in Ouachita on the way home.
