Jeep Wrangler Pickup Spied Looking Production Ready

Quote:
The all-new Jeep Wrangler pickup truck is getting closer to becoming a reality.

A new set of spy photos shows Jeep is hard at work developing its new small pickup, which looks more production ready than the last time we saw a prototype in the summer of 2016.

The bed seen in these photos appears to be production ready, while the wheels now look properly centered in the wells, something that was’t present in the last prototype. This Wrangler pickup is a four-door Unlimited model and judging by the beefier tires, it’s likely a Rubicon trim.

The new 2018 Wrangler will begin production at the end of 2017, while the pickup truck will reportedly hit the market in late 2019. An all-new frame with plenty of weight-saving material will be used to underpin the Wrangler, with plenty of aluminum going into the body panels.

As for powerplants, expect a turbocharged four-cylinder engine to be the base option, while a 3.6-liter V6 and a six-cylinder diesel are offered as options. A plug-in hybrid variant could be in the cards as well.

Why is the release of the pickup 2 years behind the new 2018 Wrangler?
